3. THISWAS OUR MAIN INFLUENCE FORTHE
POSTER BASED ON BEINGON HAVING
SIMILARTHEMES
The actor credits on top of the poster
seemed appropriate as we had
enough actors to fill it up.
While the layout of the characters are the
same, we could only fit three, and they’re
all the same character on our side which
challenges most forms and conventions of
having a character appear more than once
on a poster, this was to portray the
protagonist as having these memories
burnt into his mind, hence the burnt like
edges on the top picture.
Following the most common trait of
film posters, the title, along with
credits are the bottom, along with the
tagline. The title was made bigger to
fill the gaps on both sides, along with
enlarging the tag line and separating
it from the title above and the bottom
credits.
4. This poster in comparison to ours
credits their lead actor and places
him above the title, along with him
being the only one appearing on it.
While ours shows the protagonist
only as well, we did have more than
one actor credited in large.
The positioning of the tag line in
the poster was probably used to
hint at the main lead being the one
missing. Even though ours has it
placed at the bottom, the link
however, still applies, even though
it might be translated differently to
the audience, which is what the tag
line is supposed to do.
5. The tag line for this poster seems to
be directed at the audience, the use of
“you” something that was quite
similar to ours, even though the
meaning is unclear whether it directed
at the audience, the protagonist or
both.
The font of the title is run down,
old and broken, which is
expected, as the poster shows a
run down, old billboard of the
place, linking the title
immediately to the theme. Our
title uses a similar one, most
psychological horror films have
either rugged, torn title, or an
edged one, as it not only links to
the movie, but the genre, its
supposed to make it into the
viewers mind, with standing out.
6. While most films only
use a character once
on the poster, we used
ours three times, this
was to show him in
different stages of his
life, which appear in
the film.
Of course, the title,
tag line and credits
stay at the bottom,
this trait would be too
risky to challenge, as
every professional
poster in existence
follows this, the
bottom is where the
eye would look for the
title.
While most short films
have an award on their
poster, let alone have
poster, we decided it
would not fit this one,
as it would have no
where to be placed, in a
way this is against
common codes and
conventions of short
films, since most of
them include their
awards on their posters.

TANGO DOWN
The trailer uses 2 character extracts from the episode, this was to show their
connection to each other, we have used this similarly but this time with the
protagonist and his sibling.
The music stops at the midst to increase tensions for one word, this is also used
by ours in order to create the same effect.
The announcer does not speak much, however this different in ours based on the
amount of time we had.

JAWS 2
TANGO DOWN
The trailer used one of the main soundtrack of its film, the one part where its
played is the part with most tension, this was similarly used to ours, its there to
tease the audience about the events that will occur.
There are other effects used in the trailer too, such as screaming which is
something that the jaws franchise claim to create. Our film is not a franchise , but
the effect has been used regardless, specifically at the beginning when the tag
line is used, this was to create a memorable effect.
10. We did not try to challenge this form as much due to that affecting the
translation of the viewers directly, however, this does not mean we
followed every code.
We did not include any critic reviews which trailers in our genre usually
do, especially the horror ones in the early 1980s, this was to not break
the mood of the film, so instead we have used the tag line which is a
rhetorical question, in addition to repeating “why did you do it?”, this is
commonly used to intrigue the audience and we have made a full effort
of this code.
