Rene Descartes was a French philosopher, mathematician, and scientist born in 1596. He attended the Jesuit college of Henri IV where he studied literature, grammar, science, and mathematics. Later in his life, he published works on geometry, analytical geometry, and philosophy. Descartes combined algebra and geometry to develop analytical geometry and sought to prove everything about nature through science and mathematics. He died in 1650 at age 54 while tutoring Sweden's queen.
2. Rene Descartes was born 1596-1650.At 8 he attended the Jesuit college of Henri IV in La Flèche. There he studied literature, grammar, science, and mathematics.
3. In 1614 he went to study civil cannon law at Poitiers at la flieche. In 1616 he received his baccalaureates and licentiate degrees in law.
4. After the military he went to he went to have a quiet life still studying his work. In 1637 he published geometry. Later he combined algebra and geometry and by doing so analytical geometry = (Cartesian geometry )
5. Later he was connived that science and mathematics could be used to prove every thing nature. The three important texts he later on wrote were Discourse on the Method of Rightly Conducting the Reason and Seeking Truth in the Sciences, Meditations on First Philosophy, and Principles of Philosophy. He moved to Sweden to tutor a queen. She wanted he lessons at 5:00 in the morning. He was all ready stressed out that did not help. Descartes fragile health, and he contracted pneumonia, from which he died on February 11, 1650 at the age of 54.
