2. ADJECTIVES
Adjectives are words to talk about nouns.
Adjectives have syllables (1 syllable: Sad, 2
syllables:hap-py, 3 syllables: Beau-ti-ful)
Examples: big, small, thin, fat…
3. COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES
Comparative adjectives are words to talk about
the difference between two animals, people,
things…
To make comparative sentences of 1 syllable
adjectives add -ER to the end of an adjective
Examples: Short:curt/baix:shorter( més curt
que/més baix que)
New:nou:newer(més nou que..)
4. SPELLING RULES
Adjectives ending –E, add –R (nice-nicer)
Adjectives ending C+V+C, double the last
consonant and add -ER (fat-fatter)
Two syllables adjectives ending –Y drop the Y and
add –ER
Two or more syllable adjectives write “THE MORE”
before the adjective (difficult-the most difficult)
IRREGULAR ADJECTIVES:
Good-better-the best
Bad-worse-the worst
Far-further-the furthest
5. COMPARATIVES:
Pau is taller than Joan
Joan is shorter than Pau
The turtle is slower than the hare
The hare is faster than the turtle

Superlative adjectives are words to talk about
the difference between 3 or more people,
animals or things…
To make superlative sentences of 1 syllable
adjectives add –EST to the end of an
adjectives.
Examples: Tall: alt: tallest
Old: Gran: Oldest
