4. Introduction
• Now-a-days the goal of
many customers is to
have PC at one’s palm.
• To support such powerful
systems we need long
range, high speed
wireless network called
4G.
5. About 4G !
#is the fourth generation of cell
phone mobile communications.
#A 4G system provides mobile
ultra-broadband Internet
access.
#A 4G system does not support
traditional circuit-
switched telephony service, but
all-Internet Protocol (IP) based
communication such as IP
telephony
6. ¿ What is 4G ?
4G is a fully IP-based
integrated system as shown
in Fig-1. This will be
achieved after wired and
wireless technologies
converge and will be
capable of providing 100
mbps and 1 gbps speeds
both indoors and outdoors,
with premium quality and
high security .
8. Features of 4G
• High speed mobile web.
• Mobile -IP
• IP telephony
• Traditional voice call replace by IP-
Telephony
• High definition mobile TV
• Excellence video conferencing
• 3D- Television
9. History of mobile generation
• Analog transmission (1G) in 1981.
• Digital transmission (2G) in 1992.
• Multimedia transmission (3G) in 2001.
• Mobile ultra-broadband transmission (4G)
in 2012.

12. EVOLUTION
The first commercial deployment
was by Telia Sonera and
NetCom.
Telia Sonera branded the network
“4G”.
The modem devices on offer were
manufactured by Samsung
(dongle GT- B3710).
The network infrastructure were
created by Huawei (in Oslo) and
7/14/2012 7:27:09 PM Ericsson (in Stockholm). 12
13. 4G IN INDIA
Has already begun the process of
introducing 4G
India is among the latecomers in 3G.
It is felt that by the time the implement 3G
fully, 4G technologies such as LTE will be
available commercially.
It has taken three years for the government
to decide on 3G-spectrum policy.
7/14/2012 7:27:09 PM
4G could face the same delay unless India 13
wants to catch up with the rest of the world.
14. 4G network in India
• In India on 10 April 2012, India's telecom
company Bharti Airtel has launched India's first
4g services in Kolkata using TD-LTE technology.
It's only 14 months back before the official
launching in Kolkata when a group consisting
of China Mobile, Bharti Airtel and SoftBank
Mobile came together, called GTI (Global TDLTE
Initiative) in Barcelona and they signed the
commitment towards-LTE (Time-Division Long-
Term Evolution) standards for the Asian region.
15. 4G spectrum in India
• Aircel :8 cirles covered by aircel.
• Airtel:Madhya Pradesh &
ChattisgarhKolkata, Karnataka
Chandigarh, Bengaluru, Pune
• Augere :Madhya Pradesh &
Chattisgarh
• Qualcom :Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana
and Kerala.
• Tikona : Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh
(east and west), Rajasthan & HP.
16. SERVICES PRIOR TO 4G
LTE[Long Term Evolution]—UMTS(universal mobile
telecomm. Systems)
Objectives : Improving Efficiency.
Lowering Costs.
Improving Services.
Better integration with
other standards.
Aim of LTE : Download rate - 100mbps
Upload rate-50 mbps.
17. WIMAX
[Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access]
Objective: Low Cost.
Low Expense Voice transport
and delivery of services.
Aim: Download data-rate 46
mbps.
Upload data-rate 14 mbps.
Wi-Max Tower & Reciever
18. 4G Possibilities 4G
Enhanced Mobile Gaming
Experience enhanced wireless
capabilities that deliver mobile
gaming interaction with latency
less than five milliseconds.
Play online multiplayer games
while traveling at high speeds
or sitting outside.
19. 4G Possibilities
4G Personal Media Repository
3G Create a personal media
repository that can be
accessed from home and on
2G the road to view photos,
watch movies and listen to
1G
your personal music
collection.
0G
20. 4G Possibilities
4G •Broadband Access in
Remote Locations
3G 4G networks will provide a wireless
2G
alternative for broadband access to
residential and business customers.
In addition, 4G will provide the first
1G opportunity for broadband access in
remote locations without an
infrastructure to support cable or DSL
0G access.
21. 4G Possibilities
4G •Virtual Presence
3G Use hologram-generating virtual reality
programs that provide an artificial
presence just about anywhere.
2G For example, decide if you want to
personally respond when someone
1G rings your front door while you are
away from home.

22. CONCLUSION
4G mobile phone technology
promises faster
communication Speeds ,
capacity and diverse usage
formats.
These formats would provide
richer content and support for
other public networks such as
optical fibre and wireless
local area networks.
