10. Impact of Diabetes Diabetes supplies are very, very expensive. I can never be without health insurance. Diabetes also affects your family, because they have to take care of you when you’re young and worry about you when you move across the country. Diabetes also affects your body in the future. Complications from diabetes include blindness, kidney failure, heart disease and stroke. Diabetes can even cause death.
