2. NME Magazine Cover Masthead This is the name of the magazine, it is big and bold so it stands out. Also the fact that it is red makes it stand out. The style of the font relates to the bold ‘in-your-face’, statement music that the magazine features. The shortening of New Musical Express to NME makes it easier to remember and it’s more catchy as a magazine title so people like it. Main Cover Line This is the main article featured in the magazine. My eyes are instantly drawn to the pink of the word ‘ Paramore ’ the band name. This was a good choice because people who like the band will reconise the name and be drawn to the magazine by the name alone. Also the pink of the text matches that of the females lipstick which keeps a common theme throughout. Also the white stands out still and it is clearly the most important thing on the page. The actual text that has been used is very clever because it is a rhetorical question which will draw people in because they will want to find out information to be able to answer the question.
3. NME Magazine Cover Main Cover Image The main cover image relates to the main cover line in content and in theme. The content is because it is the band that is mentioned in the cover line. But in theme it is related to the cover line because the poses are all high impact dramatic poses which is reflected in the cover line. The focus is on the female who is the lead singer of the band and she stands out because of the colour used. She has bright orange hair, green eyes and pink lips. Also her head is infront of the masthead whereas the other band members’ are behind. This could suggest that the audience would be more likely to pick up the magazine because of the lead singer on the front not just the band name.
4. NME Magazine Cover Puff/ Plug Gives another thing for the reader to look at. It draws them in because even though it is separate to the main image and cover line it adds a separate interest which makes it look like the magazine has even more to offer
5. NME Magazine Cover Cover Lines The cover lines give another incentive to buy the magazine big enough to stand out but no where near the size of the main cover line. The colours of the text contrast the background so they are clear and easy to read making the experience of looking at the magazine cover more enjoyable for the reader. The word plus in red makes it seem like the reader is getting more out of this magazine.
