  1. Studies show that humans are predominantly visual beings. Whereas most of us process words at an average of only 150 words per minute, our visual perception allows us to process images and video four hundred to two thousand times faster. Because of this, AMD continues to emphasize the visual aspect of the computing experience.
  2. The fact that humans are visual beings is evident in how we experience technology today. Check out these figures:-- Over 20 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute! In October of last year, YouTube reached over 1 billion video views per day!And more and more of those videos are in HD –9 billion video files in consumers’ personal libraries today are in high definition. -- We’re adding 50 million digital media files to our personal content libraries every DAY and we’re uploading over 1000 pictures to Facebook every second. In short, we’re experiencing an explosion in multimedia, and navigating a sea of digital content; these factors greatly influence what people want and how they shop for PCs.
  3. With the growing demand of online content, PC buyers want:An amazingly sharp and clear high definition online experienceTo be able to run the newest types of applications simultaneously without delaysTo have an energy efficient, cool and quiet PC which does not sacrifice the experienceThey want sleek, affordable, and elegant PC designsAnd above all, they want rich visual experiences
  4. Let’s back up a little to give you a better understanding of what an APU is.  Current PC architecture is built around the highly flexible x86 architecture of the traditional CPU.  It has evolved over the years, going from a basic engine to the multi-core processors that we enjoy today.  This has allowed PCs to become increasingly efficient at dealing with multiple problems in parallel.  Like the CPU, the GPU has also come a long way.  It has evolved from a basic device to render an image on the screen, to the advanced 3D graphics processors that drive the rich visual interfaces of today’s PCs.  Today’s GPUs are built around an advanced parallel processing architecture, which is capable of operating on hundreds of pieces of data in parallel in a single cycle. Each architecture has its strengths and weaknesses.  Neither alone will be able to address the complex problems that will challenge PCs in the future.  Enter the Accelerated Processing Unit, the APU.
  5. Zacate was designed for mainstream (mainstream notebook, All In One, and desktops), but the architecture is so robust that it can be taken down to the 9W TDP for netbooks and other emerging form factors.
  6. So where do the C-Series & E-Series APUs fit into the AMD lineup, and for matter, where they match up against our competitor’s respective offerings? AMD’s new accelerated processing units will begin within the netbook, ultrathin notebook, and value desktop categories. This places the APUs in the new HD Internet level, as well as the VISION Basic and VISION Premium tiers, and positions them against Intel’s Atom, Celeron, Pentium, and Core i3 processors. Yes, these two APUs are versatile enough to not only compete with, but outperform, four different processors from the other guys.
  7. It’s one thing for AMD to be proud of the APU, but if you’re wondering what the experts are saying about AMD’s new accelerated processing unit, check out these industry reviews…
