Presented at the NH Works Conference, May 22, 2012, at New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, NH.
The Office of Workforce Opportunity sponsors the NH Works system through use of Workforce Investment Act funds, to serve as a catalyst to establish a secure and sustainable workforce that can meet current and future skilled labor needs and provide a competitive advantage for New Hampshire businesses.
The Office is comprised of a 43-person council that includes businesses, legislators, and representatives from government agencies involved in workforce development, including the Department of Resources and Economic Development; Department of Education; Employment Security; Health and Human Services; Department of Labor; and the Community College System.
About 200 people gathered for this day-long event, which included this presentation about how employees and employers are using social media to fill jobs, an overview of the primary social media platforms of interest to the recruiting and hiring process, and quick tips for optimizing one's activity on these platforms.

“Money Makes
a Difference.
He sees thousands of other
people, bookkeepers or clerks or
chemists or wagon hands, busy at
their work and envies them from
the bottom of his soul. They have
their independence, their self-
respect and manhood…
It is just money which makes this
difference in him. With a little
money he would be himself
again.”
