To treat a cavity, Dr. Ito removes the decayed portion of the
tooth and then "fills" the area on the tooth where the
decayed material had been.

Fillings are also used to repair cracked or broken teeth and
teeth that have been worn down from misuse (such as from
nail-biting or tooth grinding).

First, Dr. Ito will numb the area around the tooth to be filled
with a local anesthetic. Next, the decayed area will be
removed with a drill.

process to ensure that all the decay has been removed.

A special light that "cures" or hardens each layer is used.

the composite material, trims off any excess, and polishes the
final restoration.

(silver), Dr. Ito uses only composite (tooth colored) filling
materials in his office.

Once complete, the space for the filling is prepared by
cleaning the cavity of bacteria and debris.
