2. Three to buy O2 next year, Predicts CCS
Insight
The article suggests that Hutchinson Whampoa, the UK operator of 3 will
acquire 02 next year. This is due to O2’s parent company Telefonica
attempting to reduce its debt, which currently stands at £38.6bn.
The article also mentions that CCS believes that Yahoo will acquire Flipboard
and Pinterest next year; and Twitter will try to buy Snapchat with money
raised from its IPO. They believe this will be a surprise as Snapchat turned
Facebook’s $3bn offer down, and Twitter is only offering $1.8bn.
CCS also predicts that in 2015 a there will be a merger between France
Telecom and Deutsche Telecom; and that UK Wi-Fi usage will peak, as 4G
becomes the norm to people. They also think that companies such as Apple,
Google and Microsoft will have to stop bundling hardware and software due
to anti-competitiveness due to a new European Commission.
The intended audience of this article will be O2 customers as the title
mentions O2 may be been took over by three next year. They may want to
know if any changes will be been made to the company when it gets took
over, and how it will affect them. It also gives the audience/readers an
insight into what may be happening with other companies around the world
and what might be changing. This prepares the reader before the changes
are made; and they also might find it interesting to know which companies
are taking over other companies as they are all major companies and most
people have the apps on their phone therefore it makes the article relevant
to them.
The article is based on CCS Insights predictions therefore; it is not going to be
entirely accurate as they are only predictions. It also makes the article
slightly biased as the author is only using one company’s predictions rather
than using many companies’ predictions and reaching a logical conclusion on
the subject, rather than just using CCS Insights predictions.

3. Apple Already at Work on iPhone 6
This article is about recent information that has been released about the new Apple iPhone 6 which
is the next smartphone due to be released from Apple. Most of the article is information about what
the iPhone is expected to look like (larger 4.9-inch display and curved glass) and that it is expected to
be launched next year.
This is a photo of what they expect the iPhone to roughly look like.

This intended audience could be anyone from someone who is an Apple fan or someone who is
interested in buying the latest gadgets because it is talking about what people will expect from Apple
next year even though Apple has not properly confirmed this information to be true. There are also
many technology fans out there who are always interested in what new gadgets have been
introduced into the market so they might not even buy the smartphone but be interested in what it’s
going to be like.
This article is interesting because the iPhone is a popular phone in the smartphone market and
many people will be interested in what to expect from Apple for next year. The article is not really
biased but most of the information is taken from other sources. This article has also been shared on
Twitter, Facebook and Linked In.

4. MMA Announces the 2013 Smarties Global
Award Winners
The article is based around the Mobile Marketing Association announcing the
winners of the Smarties award. The Smarties award is the only award that
recognises mobile work from around the world. It talks about how the
winners for the award are chosen, describing it’s the most innovative, creative
and most brave work across the mobile marketing and advertising ecosystem
that comes top. The article then goes on to talk about some of the award
winners of 2013. It lists some of the 2013 Smarties Industry Award winners
and then goes on to categorise each award, highlighting who was awarded
Gold, Silver and Bronze. To round off the article the concept of the Mobile
Marketing Association (MMA) is described further. It states that the the MMA
is the premier global non-profile trade association which is established to lead
the growth of mobile marketing. And later goes on to talk about what the
MMA is designed to do and where the global headquarters are located along
with its regional chapters in North America, Europe, Latin American and Asia
Pacific.
There is also a hyperlink to allow readers to view the gallery of the 2013
Smarties winning work.
The intended audience for the article is aimed more towards people
who are interested in the technological side of Mobile Marketing. It
focuses on more where and who creates devices for mobile and
recognising their work rather than the apps themselves. The article
isn’t biased, its more simply informing readers of work that needs to
be recognised in the Mobile Marketing industry.

5. What is an iAd?
The research that I did is about the iAd, the iAd is advertising system, which Apple offers to
developers of iOS apps running on your IPhones, IPod touch and IPod. The IAd system allows
developers to add their advertising in their apps to earn extra money or subsidize free apps. The ads
can offer the user sophisticated interactivity and animation, as well as more simple display banner
ads. The iAd is built into the iOS and is used for the Apple devices so that means you can incorporate
hardware and software features to deliver an inspiring storytelling experience that will be rooted in
consumer insight and consistent across thousands of apps and all iOS devices.
With the IAd your add can be funny, emotional, thought provoking, or dramatic — immersing our
users in your brand experience without the need to leave their app. Whether your objective is deep
engagement or a smooth, simple path to transaction, iAd delivers, also you can control what iAd App
you want to see as Network lets you exclude ads from competitors or other unwanted advertisers.
You can set your preferences by going to the iAd module in iTunes Connect. This is one example of
an IAd
Nothing excites moviegoers quite like a sneak peek. Disney used iAd to share pre-release
footage, character bios and more. With one-tap access to exclusive content and links to
purchase tickets, Disney made it simple for audiences to find their way to the silver screen.
Popcorn, anyone?

6. App Review – Barclays Mobile Banking App
The app I’m reviewing is the Barclays mobile banking app, which is available on
the following devices: iPad, iPhone, BlackBerry or Android device. The app allows
people who use Barclays banking to access their accounts quicker by using their
phones. By logging onto the app using your 5-digit password you can easily
manage your money e.g. transferring money to payees. This app is a lot more
helpful for people who want a simple way to do their banking.
This is what the app looks like when you log in (on the left) and this is what the
app look like once you are logged in (on the right)
The intended audience from Barclays is anyone over 16 (that is the age you have
to be to use the app) however; the type of people using it may vary. I think that
the mobile banking apps are more popular with young people (late teens) and
adults. This is because most young people have smartphones and therefore would
be interested in using it. And older person may not understand how to use the
app as well.
The idea of the app is to help direct people away from some of the complications
of the normal online banking to a more simple way of banking. However, the app
does not always have a certain online banking feature. For example, if you want
to send money to a new payee you have to log onto online banking to do it as you
can only send saved payee’s money on the mobile app.
