Preview event at Macy’s to recognize community leaders
MIAMI, FL (February 12, 2014) – Ankara Miami 2014, Florida's largest major runway show committed to
featuring emerging and established designers from the African Diaspora, will take center stage on Sat., February 22
from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Florida International University Kovens Center, located at 3000 N.E. 151 st Ave. in
Miami. This Black History Month celebration of African culture, entertainment and apparel will kick-off with a
preview event at Macy’s to recognize community leaders who are advocates of the arts and education.
“Ankara Miami, Inc. is devoted to using our platform to raise cultural awareness and impact our South Florida
community and abroad,” said Evelyn Onyejuruwa, Founder/CEO of Ankara Miami. “We are excited to partner with
Macy’s to host a special preview event to recognize local leaders who are supporters of cultural arts and
education.”
Hosted by Comedian Marcellus "Chello" Davis (BET ComicView/Lyric Theater/Blue Magic Open Mic Night, Ankara
Miami will once again light up the runway with African-inspired fashions for women and men. Professional models
will showcase trendy, vibrant looks from top designers from across the world, including Modella B
(Ghana/Nigeria), Nice Trads (Louisiana/Nigeria), BChris Couture (New York/Ghana), Adjanie (Jamaica/United
States), Wamuiru Couture (Miami/United States), Ankara Fashions (Texas/Nigeria), and Rare Honey Artwear
(Tallahassee/United States). Fashionistas will also appreciate a unique selection of accessories from Unapologetic
Presence, Sankofa's Child and Pink Empress, LLC, as well as enjoy giveaways, live performances and live art
