Generic Structure of Narrative Text - In the previous post, we gave you the definition of narrative text. Do you still remember the objective or purpose of the narrative text? Yeah, narrative texts are to tell to about the story in the past; people would feel curious and anxious with the ends of the stories. Generic Structure of Narrative Text Now, it's time for you to know the Generic Structure of the Narrative Text. 1. Orientation : sets the scene and introduces the participants (characters) of the story, the time and place the story happened (Who, what, when and where) 2. Complication : a crisis arises. A series of events in which the main character Attempts to solve the problem. 3. Resolution : the crisis is resolved, for better or worse 4. Re-orientation: it is optional. The ending of story. 1. What is Narrative…?
Narrative text is a type of text that use to
entertain the readers or listener, and usually in
fictional stories.
2. The function of Narrative
The function of narrative is to entertain, amuse and to
deal with the actual experiences in different ways.
Narrative deal with problematic events, which lead to a
crisis or turning point of some kind, which turn, finds
a resolution
3. Narrative types are in form of story : fable, fairy tales,
historical stories, legends, mysteries, romance, horror,
science fiction, etc.

5. Significant Features of Narrative
1. Focus on specific and individualized participants
2. Use of relational process (action verb)
3. Use of mental process
4. Use of past tense
5. Use of temporal conjunctions and temporal
circumstances
6. Use of process (saying verb) in direct or indirect
speech.

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful woman, who lost her father , king Boko.
The beautiful woman was Roro Jonggrang. Her beauty was so famous around the country.
Every man wanted to marry her. One of them was Bandung Bondowoso.
Bandung Bondowoso, he was a young man with a supra natural power, who killed
Roro Jonggrang, so he wanted Roro Jonggrang to be his wife. But Roro Jonggrang refused
to marry the murderer of her father.
Roro told her Patih about her trouble. Patih advised her to ask Bandung
Bondowoso to make one thousand tamples in one night.
Roro Jonggrang asked Bandung Bondowoso if she agreed to marry him with one
condition: he had build one thousand temples during one night.
Helped by the devils, Bandung Bondowoso started to build the temple. Passing
the midnight and he used magic power so his work was nearly finished.
Roro Jonggrang woke up the girls in the village and ordered them to grind the
rice. The sound made the rooQster crow. They thought that it had been already dawn.
Bandung Bondowoso got frustrated because he failed to complete the temple.
Because of his anger, he cursed Roro Jonggrang to be a statue. This statue completed the
number of temples, that was one thousand temples, like what was requested by Roro
Jonggrang.
