2. The overall view is that it has been recognised that the amount of resource that is
required has been high and also it has taken time to train staff which in turn has
costs associated to this for implementing the training requirements. It was also noted
that planning has been imperative. Colleges require lead members of staff where
duties do not conflict with day jobs. It was also important to recognise August as a
month for consolidation. Progress is impeded by key team members’ absence
through holidays.
Next Steps
The next stage of the project is to review the parallel running of the system within the
one College. This will involve manual review of data and will be a complex task. It is
not envisaged that there will be any issues but the parallel running is essential to
verify this. After this point the system can then be implemented across other
Colleges and training will continue to support the transition. The plan is to have the
system set up by the end of 2013 going into the beginning of 2014. In early 2014
documentation will be provided by the project on the overall key learning points and
this will provide key information on shared cloud solutions.
