Business English I
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed for collage students in the Accounting and Business
Administration field. It focuses on broad areas of grammar, sentence structure and
mechanics of the language. It develops the fundamentals of English and the finer
points of style. Writing of memos, letters and other documentation.
GENERAL OBJETIVES
At the end of the course, students will:
1. Comprehend the fundamental of English grammar
2. Enrich their vocabulary
3. Apply skills studied in actual English communication activities
4. Add communication skills to business written documents
SPECIFIC OBJETIVES
During the course development, the students will:
1. Learn and apply grammar rules.
2. Use the correct sentence structure of the language: punctuation, capitalization
3. enrich their vocabulary
4. identify appropriate elements of business style
CONTENTS
• Introduce parts of speech
• Recognize verbs and subjects in the sentence
• Identify adjectives, adverbs and direct objects
• Practice noun plurals, kinds of nouns and possessives
• Learn guidelines for numbers
• Recognize different business styles
• Learn the parts of the business letter
• Practice letter formats
• Familiarize with different kind of business letters
