• 3.2 million inhabitants, representing 42% of Catalan population and 6.8% of Spanish population.
• 52% of Catalan GDP, and 9,72% of Spanish GDP
• With industrial added value rate higher than the average of all the European big economies, except
German economy.
• 630 km2 of territory; 11,5% of space dedicated to industrial estates of economic activities and 28%
dedicated to protected natural zones.
• 47% of Catalonia patents.
• It represents 77,6% of Catalan exports and 19,3% of Spanish exports.
• 52% of Catalan workers work in AMB
• 35 million passengers at Barcelona Airport and 3.4 million at the port.
• Almost 600 million tones of goods (aerial, railway, maritime, road).
• 10 million tourists and 46 million accommodations in Barcelona province.
• There is an average availability of 20-30% at industrial estates devoted to economic activities .

Main requests from AMB towns and business owners
• Barcelona becoming the international promoting brand of all the territory
• We must join to get a review multitude to compete worldwide
• It’s necessary to achieve the territory harmonization regarding the treatment and support towards the
companies.
• It’s necessary to achieve the normative harmonization regarding the procedures.
• It’s necessary to give support to companies with all the support tools belonging to Administrations.
• It’s necessary to update the information systems to help companies to take decisions.
• Respect the idiosyncrasy and features of territory
Main lacks of economic promotion system
• Wide economic development universe, small units with a high structure cost.
• Previous culture based on occupation plans experience .
• General unawareness from the companies about the wide range of support services that Administrations
can give to companies.
• It’s necessary to achieve the normative harmonization regarding the procedures.
• Low TiC implementation degree.
• Unsatisfactory accompaniment model.

Work plans established by area towns
1. Get the information for taking decisions in a political and corporate level. Database of Economic
Development.
2. Take advantage of Barcelona trade for the whole territory. Inclusion of AMB to the project BCN
Growth Centre / company attraction and landing model.
3. Homogenization of procedures regarding Economic Development and improvement of company
support services. Supply and Procedures Service model in AMB territory.
Three main objectives:
1. Re industrialize territory
2. Reduce unemployment with high quality occupation
3. Improve model of support services for companies

Improvement of perception and companies support service model
• Local companies identify as main problems in our territory the low transparency and difficulties in
administrative procedures.
• On the other hand, there are lots of resources and services at companies’ disposal that are not known and
are not used as much as they could.
• We must develop tools to improve transparency regarding procedures, services and resources offered
from Administration to companies.

Main objectives
Industrial repopulation / reindustrialization / unemployment reduction
• AMB is a pile of very different economic and social realities
• More crisis resistance = high quality industrial economies.
• AMB towns have tradition and a big industrial infrastructure.
• Barcelona is a great trade, it’s necessary to take advantage of it to reindustrialize AMB territory and to use
it so that the whole territory makes the most of its force.
