The Isms

 Nationalism- the feeling of identifying with a nation (a nation is a group of people that share
culture, language, history, and ethnicity). Nationalism caused citizens of the American
colonies to become dissatisfied with the sovereignty of the King and caused them to revolt.

 Internationalism- countries cooperating politically and economically with each other for the
common good. Internationalism has brought the nations of the world together and helped
further the feeling of a global community and solve the problems that can only be helped
with cooperation from many nations. http://www.google.ca/imgres?

 Humanitarianism- Kindness, sympathy and compassion towards all human beings regardless
of race, status, or anything. An emphasis on humanitarianism by governments would
encourage acceptance and raise quality of life. http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://

 Multilateralism- many countries working together to solve a problem. Some issues cannot
be solved by a single country’s commitment, and in such cases, multilateralism becomes
         important. http://www.google.ca/imgres?

 Supranationalism- above and beyond the jurisdiction of one nation’s government, like an
organization in many countries (UN countries). Supranationalist organizations help to
regulate such things as international relations and to create common ground between
         nations. http://www.google.ca/imgres?
