Tips to Keep Visitors on Your Website Longer
What good is it to get people to visit your website only to have them leave in the blink of an eye? The longer you keep a visitor on your website, the better chance you have of getting them to purchase from you; that is a fact. So you only have a few seconds to impress them long enough to stay, which is easier said than done in a lot of cases.
Here are a few tips to help you keep visitors on your site longer:
• First, you need to have top quality content on your website. Not only does it have to be useful, but it also needs to be written well – meaning grammatically correct and free of errors. Your website copy should also focus on your target audience and explain exactly how your product or service will benefit them. Also make sure your images, photos, and videos are top quality as well. First impressions are everything, so make sure your website is ready to make your first impression a great one.
• Post videos on your site. Most internet users today enjoy watching videos more than reading text. So if you want to capture the attention of your visitors, put some good videos on your site that will keep them engaged.
• Mobile optimized websites are vital these days. It is likely that a large portion of your potential customers will be landing on your website via a mobile device. If it does not look good and run smoothly on their mobile devices, most people will disappear before they even have a chance to actually see your site.
• It is also important that your websites loads quickly without any glitches. Perhaps the best way to speed up your site is to trim away all of that 'excess baggage.' Do you have Flash images or large graphics that are not serving any purpose? Get rid of them. Also make sure that your website is hosted with a reputable hosting company that will ensure optimal speeds.
• Finally, your website needs to be easy to navigate and browse. Everything needs to be intuitive. Give them what they are there for in just a couple of clicks or less. If they can't find what they need in three or so clicks, they will be hop on over to your competitors’ sites. A good navigation system is one with a fantastic category structure at its core.
