ST Microelectronics has developed new solar diode and booster technologies to improve solar energy conversion efficiency. The cool bypass switch, available in different packages, dissipates less power and has lower leakage currents than standard Schottky diodes. This makes it cooler, more efficient, reliable, and long-lasting. The solar energy booster integrates power converters directly into solar panels to maximize power extraction at the single cell-string level and improve overall photovoltaic system efficiency. Both technologies aim to boost solar energy production and reduce costs through higher reliability and energy yields.
