Thesis There are lots of religions in the world and Islam is one of them. Islam like any other religions loves peace in the world and doesn't allow violence, but many people that don't know about Islam define it in a wrong way. This results in many misconceptions and stereotypes about Islam and Muslims.
Relevance  Islam is my religion and I want to show what it is about and what it really means. It’s something that we and most Muslim people believe in. So you don’t have to agree with me.

Meaning of Islam Silm and Salam which means peace. Submission to God.  A Muslim is supposed to live in peace and harmony with its environment.                                                       ( Jelloun )
Muslims - The followers of Islam Muslims – the followers of Islam.  Muslims are not to be confused with Arabs. An Arab could be a Muslim, a Christian or an atheist.  Arab - any person who adopts the Arabic language.  Quran (the Holy Book of Islam) is written in Arabic.                                                                           (Sakr)
Muslims More than 70 branches Same believes but different ways Different types of muslims  Their differences 							(Williams)
Learning Islam Special schools Mosques  Neighborhood  Families 				(Turner)
Allah Allah is the name of the God. Allah is the Creator of all human beings.  Muslims worship Allah.                                                              (Tanzil)
Prophet Muhammad (saw) Muhammad is the messenger of god. He was born in 570, common era, in Makkah, Arabia.  Muhammad is the very last Prophet of God to mankind.  There were 124 prophets in total including Muhammad (saw).                                                          (Alkoutali)
The Sources of Islam Qur'an Hadith Sunnah are the Prophet's sayings and deeds.                                      				(Bakhtiar)
Prophecies “There will be a time, when people will start drawing pictures on their bodies.” (Hadith)
Islamic Principles Continued Oneness of God Islam rejects the idea of multiplicity of Gods Oneness of mankind. People are created equal in front of the Law of God.  There is no superiority for one race over another.  No one can claim that he is better than others. 				(Sakr)
Islamic Principles Continued Oneness of Messengers  Oneness of the Message.  All 124 prophets had the same message and teachings Misunderstanding of people Believe in Angels Day of Judgment                              				      (Sakr)
Practices of Islam God instructed the Muslims to practice what they believe in. In Islam there are five pillars, namely:  Shahada – Creed Salat – Prayers Saum – Fasting  Zakat – Purifying tax. 							        (Baines)

Celebrations (Eid) Muslims have two celebrations (Eid) The Eid of Sacrifice The Eid of Fast-Breaking  							(Baines)
Holidays The holy day of the Muslims is Friday.  Gather in Mosques to practice a prayer A must thing to do                  						(Baines)
Diets Allowed: Healthy foods	  Forbidden Pork and its by-products Alcohol  Narcotic or addictive drugs.   							(Quran)

Terrorism The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons. 						(Islam)
Islam vs Terrorism Islam – love, mercy and peace. Terrorism is the total opposite of Islam. Terrorists are disbelievers.  							(Hadith)
Islam vs Terrorism “O you who believe! Do not kill yourselves, for truly Allah has been to you most merciful. If any do that in rancour and justice, soon shall We cast him into the Fire” (Quran 4:29-30) 							(Khalid)

Conclusion Throughout my research I understood that one person cannot represent his race, religion or the society he lives in. But most people aren’t like this that’s why there are so many stereotypes about different races and religions.

He was sent to those religious people to inform them about the true mission of Jesus, Moses, Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham.

The Prophet&apos;s sayings and deeds are called Sunnah. Hadith is the report of the sayings, deeds and approvals of the Prophet Muhammad (saw). The HAdith is the writings of followers of Muhammad (saw) about the life of the Prophet. Hence, it is the life history of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) which provides examples of daily living for Muslims.

  10. Creed (Shahada): The verbal commitment and pledge that there is only One God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God, is considered to be the Creed of Islam. It is a first step of converting to IslamSalat – Prayers The performance of the five daily prayers is required of Muslims. Fasting (Saum): Fasting is total abstinence from food, liquids and intimate intercourse (between married couples) from dawn to sunset during the entire month of Ramadan. Purifying Tax (Zakat): This is an annual payment of a certain percentage of a Muslim&apos;s property which is distributed among the poor or other rightful people who are in need.

The pilgrimage occurs from the 7th to 13th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th and last month of the Islamic calendar. Because the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, 11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar used in the Western world. Pilgrimage (Hajj): The performance of pilgrimage to Makkah is required once in a life time if means are available. Hajj is in part in memory of the trials and tribulations of Prophet Abraham, his wife Hagar and his eldest son Prophet Ishmael.
  12. The Eid of Sacrifice is in remembrance of the sacrifice to be by Prophet Abraham of his son.The Eid of Fast-Breaking comes at the end of the month of fasting, Ramadan.
  13. It is considered to be sacred and the Day of Judgment will take place on Friday. Muslims join together shortly after noon on Friday for the Friday congregational prayer in a Mosque. A leader (Imam) gives a sermon (Khutba) and leads the congregational prayer. It is a must thing to do. But God has allowed people to pray later if they had a good excuse not to pray it on time.
