1. Martin R. Tilson Jr. - Short Bio
Martin Tilson is Managing Partner of The Tilson Group, LLC (www.thetilsongroup.com), and is
a respected corporate transactional attorney, business counselor, and investor, with more than 25
years of experience focused on advising and financing growth stage, middle market, and as
Counsel to C-level executives at Fortune 500 companies. He established and chaired the multi-
office technology practices at two AmLaw 100 law firms, including Long Aldridge LLP,
Kilpatrick Stockton LLP and served as Managing Partner-Atlanta for a regional law firm.
He has managed dozens of M&A transactions and more than 400 private equity and venture
capital investments representing both company clients and investor clients. He consults with
select technology growth company senior management on business strategy, customer
acquisition, board development, executive development, business development, accessing
capital, and execution of growth plans.
Martin is also Chairman the Southeast Investor Group (SIG), formed in 1995 to support growth
technology companies through investment and mentorship. The group is composed of 25
partners from most of the Venture Capital Funds in the Southeast, five corporate venture fund
managers, and 25 successful former tech executives who individually invest. In 2014, out of
twenty six companies presenting to (SIG), eleven received funding from Group members.
Martin serves on the Board of Advisors of the Emory Goizuetta Business School, the Board of
Advisors of the Emory Winship Cancer Center, the Board of Directors of the Technology
Association of Georgia, and was a member of the founding committee and judge for Venture
Atlanta, and TAG Business Launch. He founded and chaired the Southeast Bio Venture Forum.
He Chaired the Southern Series 36/86 Venture/Investor event in April, 2015.
