This document discusses the need for new standards for integrated e-learning environments beyond just learning management systems. It notes that two open source LMS systems in Austria, LMS.at and Edumoodle, have been successfully established with many registered users but still face issues. It proposes a solution of an "Eduthek" content marketplace to address problems of a lack of interoperability between systems and copyright issues that limit much LMS content. This content marketplace would provide a centralized place for various content channels and providers to make high quality educational content available in an integrated way similar to how iTunes revolutionized the music industry. The goal would be to create new opportunities through addressing today's limitations around school content distribution and access.
