Accompanying blog post here: http://www.mybizperforms.com/e-mail-marketing-rules-are-changing-in-south-africa/
Small businesses often inadvertently fall into the trap of spamming with well intentioned e-mails. This deck tries to educate with a bit of humour thrown in.
It is however a very serious topic, not only are the returns diminished when not acting according to industry standards and the law, the most important thing - your reputation - can be severely damaged.
In this slideshow the pitfalls of e-mail marketing are touched on, the most common errors, and how not to look like a spammer with a handful of must do techniques to avoid turning into a spammer and sending e-mail that is against the law.
I hope you find it interesting and/or entertaining, if you do, please share and leave a comment :)

20. Don’t do email (SMS,
MMS, etc.) marketing
that nobody wants.
21. Do become an
awesome person people
want to hear from any
time. Pitch or no pitch.
22. And follow some of
these simple rules
• Always ask permission for adding people to a
database (simplest way: have a subscribe form
on your website, use Google Docs if you
haven’t got a website)
• Provide a simple unsubscribe link (use a mass
mailing software that does all that
automatically for you: Mailchimp, Aweber, et al)
• Send 80% quality content and only 20% pitch
material to your list.
23. Guard your reputation
• People will know, like and trust you
• People will love your marketing
• People will love you
• People will buy from you
