In this course you will REVIEW and PRACTICE:
1. reading skills (previewing, scanning, critical thinking, making
inferences, etc.;
2. vocabulary and grammar in context;
3. and use the above in integrated skills activities.
For this class you MUST have:
1. the textbook: Academic Encounters: Life in Society – Reading, Study
Skills and Writing (Brown & Hood, 2008)
2. a large notebook to write in or an A4 writing pad
3. an English-Thai dictionary
4. pens or pencils
You MUST bring the above to each class.
Your GRADE is based on:
- Attendance
- Skill-based quizzes
- ACTIVE participation in class activities*
*Class activities include your classroom performance, working with your
group, asking questions, answering questions, completing homework and
asking for help when you need it.
Attendance is important: you MUST be present for 80% of the classes
(please come on time). If you are one hour late, you will be marked as one
hour absent.
Your mobile phone MUST be switched OFF OR SILENT
before you come into the classroom.
