The Burj Khalifa is a skyscraper in Dubai United
Arab Emirates.
The construction began on 21 September 2004
and it was completed on October 2009, but the
building officially opened on January 4 2009.

PURPOSE?
The decision to build the Burj Khalifa is based
on the government's decision to expand from an
oil-based economy into an economy that is more
focused on tourism and finacial survices.

THAT MAKE THIS STRUCTURE
SPECIAL?
The tower is designed by Skidmore, Owings and
Merrill, which also designed the Willis
Towers(that is by the way the tallest building in
Chicago). The architects where inspired by a
flower.(see photo) The Burj Khalifa uses the
bundled tube designs.

The Burj Khalifa had some difficulties because
the building company ran out of money to
complete the building but then Scheich
Mohammed came and supported the company by
giving the needed money.

They began with building on 21 September
2004, and it was completed on 1 October 2009.
So it took nine day‘s and four years to build.

1. In the Burj Khalifa is a hotel from the famouse
designer Giorgio Armani.

A, but the Armani hotel is not the only hotel
there are 9 hotels, about 19 residential towers,
Dubai Mall, the Burj Khalifa Lake and 30,000
homes. Burj Khalifahas the World’s highest
elevator installation and also World’s fastest
elevators at 18 m/s compared to previous of
Taipei 101 which was 16.83 m/s.
