2. “I started out with a dream to make a star
in a jar, and I ended up … making things
that I think can change the world.” (Taylor
Wilson)”
3. Taylor Wilson is a teenage nuclear
scientist, as hard as that may be to
understand, this young boy at the age
of 14 was already creating his first
nuclear fusion reactor.
4. It was his Grandmother's fight with cancer, and the
difficulties of obtaining the necessary radioactive drugs for
chemotherapy, that inspired Wilson to attempt to create a
reactor that could be built in any hospital.
5. In his video titled “Yup, I built a
nuclear fusion reactor” Taylor
Wilson explains how nuclear
fusion is the alternative for
energy in the future and how
children can change the world.
6. He explains how one day at the age of 12 he
got the idea that he wanted to make a star. A
great example of what Sir Ken Robinson talked
about, on how we encourage the creativity in
our children and the outcomes this may have.
7. He also talks about a great invention of his, a detector
that can replace all the ones that homeland security has
by increasing the sensitivity and is more accurate and
less expensive than the ones in existence, which he won
an award for this.
8. For the dynamism rating, I give him a 3. Though it may
seem as a low score, I think the message that he
delivered was very important but at the same time very
technical for a normal person to understand. But what can
we expect for somebody that has a brilliant mind like
Taylor’s.
9. He did capture my attention with
he’s passion of what he was
talking about and the fascinating
things he is working on, he also
said a couple of jokes.
10. When it comes to the TED
commandments, I think Taylor
applies more the first one,
Dream Big. The dream he ones
had has become true and it is
something new and very useful
for the world.
11. Focused:
Based on Garr Reynolds or Nancy Duarte tips I consider
Taylor was very focused on his talk and relied on his
knowledge of the subject to fully get the message across
to the audience.
12. I learned from Taylor that nothing is impossible and that
you should always drive for what you dream about and as
long as you are determine and really want it, it is possible.
13. What I see:
Sir Ken Robinson is very relaxed and delivers his
message with a los of comedy interaction witch keeps the
audience on their feet and very attentive, and still gets his
message across.
14. Taylor Wilson has a more
informative approach, he
relies more on the
technical side of his
message but keeps the
audience very attentive
because of the great
progress in his inventions
and that they really are
changing the world we
live in.
15. Tips:
#1:
I would say that always try to find a way to interact with
the audience s they don’t loose interest in the subject you
are trying to address.
