Did you know that you can borrow library books on your iPad? Through your public library and the Overdrive app, you can borrow digital library books remotely! Watch this presentation to find out how!

or anywhere using Overdrive!

that are part of the Merrimack Valley
Library Consortium (MVLC.)

3. But the directions work the same way
for any library that uses Overdrive,
including all of these and more!

4. Let’s
start!

5. On your iPad, open the App Store.

6. In the top right corner, type “overdrive.”

7. Select Overdrive Media Console.

8. The app should pop right up.

9. Install Overdrive!

10. When you open Overdrive for the first time, you’ll need to
authorize the app. Sign In or Register at Adobe.com.

11. Congrats! You’ve got Overdrive. Let’s download
something.

12. Select Get Books.

13. Select Add a Library.

14. Enter your library’s zip code or city and Search.

15. Select your library from the list.

16. You’ll see your library’s system appear.

17. Mark it as a favorite by selecting the star.

18. Tap on the name of the library system.

19. This will open your library system’s ebook
lending site. Fancy!

20. Select Sign In.

21. On the Sign In page, you’ll be
asked for your library card
number. This is located below
the barcode on your card.

22. Now you’re ready to search! Enter your search
terms in the box at the top right.

23. I searched for cats.

24. Your search results will look a bit like this.

25. Select the book you want. I went with this one.

26. Select Borrow to borrow the book.

27. Your Bookshelf will open. Select Download…

28. …then EPUB eBook…

29. …and finally Confirm & Download.

30. There’s the book! Tap to open it…

31. You’re ready to read!

32. This button gets you back to your bookshelf
when you’re done.

33. To return your book early, select the plus sign. A
menu will open. Select Return/Delete.

34. Voila! Your book is returned. Time to borrow
another one!
