4. I felt that children at BDS needed to have laptops available in
class on a regular time-tabled basis.
I wanted the year 5/6 computer monitors in classes supporting
teachers and other students.
So what did I do….
BDS had already planned on purchasing the current leased
laptops from teachers and using them in pods. I thought it
would be a good idea to get these extra laptops into classes.
This meant that there would be at least 3 computers in each
class and the possibility of booking the school laptop pods
(Giving classrooms the option of having up to 11 computers).
Extra laptops meant more ICT integration
5. Is to have children safely
setting up and packing away
laptops.
To confidently be able to
trouble shoot computers.
6. I intend to train the Digi Kids and
Techno Rangers fortnightly so they
can take this knowledge into classes
and support students and work
alongside teachers.
7. I chose to focus on
training the year 5’s (The
Techno Rangers) as the
year 6 children had a lot
of other responsibilities in
the school.
The Techno Rangers have
been busy working with
Belinda and myself in...
8.
9. If I use any images or student work I will obtain parental permission.
I needed to check:
That laptops were being used in classes- Monitor how often these are being
booked.
Check that I am up skilling monitors to suit teachers needs and know the
programs confidently. I will create an online survey for teachers.
How did I do this?
The internet safety forms went home to ever student and we
able to track this data on Classroom Manager.
I asked at our ICT meeting for leaders to get feedback from
staff on how often they used their laptops.
I ran a staff meeting where I invited the Techno Rangers to up
skill staff in using Publisher 2007.
The Online survey was based on the effectiveness and plans for
next years Techno Rangers.
10. I managed to see the Techno Rangers every two weeks,
there were no interruptions like sports games?!?
The timetable for the Techno Rangers worked perfectly?!?
My class can run themselves, leaving me to focus on my
Action Research?!?
I blogged everyday about my Action Research progress?!?
I can’t wait to do another Action Research- I may do one
in the weekend?!?
11. I
I felt the
PRESSURE of
running a class full
time and taking on the
responsibility of
Leading the ICT team.
12. 1. First of all I cried to Belinda!
2. Then I re focussed and put my plan into action
Invite the Techno Rangers to attend a staff
meeting. They will be able to teach staff on
how to use Publisher 2007.
Success Criteria: Staff will go back into
class and teach their children to produce a
class page for the school magazine
13. Yes!
My goal was to:
Have children safely setting up and packing
away laptops.
Confidently be able to trouble shoot
computers.
What’s Happened…
The extra laptops are being used daily.
Teachers are enjoying having an extra laptop
to use.
The laptop pods are being booked daily.
Teachers are more confident about integrating
ICT in their classroom programmes.
The Techno Rangers are confident computer
monitors. They attended a staff meeting to
help up skill teachers in using Publisher 2007- a
required program for this years school
magazine.

20. Techno Rangers are currently training
new monitors for next year.
Staff have been surveyed and we
have a list of computer programs that
staff would like to learn.
Continue to monitor the booking of
laptop pods.
Continue to meet regularly with the
Techno Rangers.
