2. What I have learned during the making of my preliminary task?
During the making of my preliminary task, I have learned certain technical aspects of media, which are used in many different
media projects. For example, I have learned how to attach a camera to a tripod. I have learned how to set up a tripod for
specific shots. and also have learned different camera angles and shot types that are commonly used throughout media
studies.
I have also learned how to use some of the editing software commonly used within media, such as Adobe Premiere Pro CC
and how to edit projects and improve projects effectively. I have also learned to use a program called 'Handbrake' to convert
files to make them compatible with Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
Another aspect of media I have learned about is the management of time. For example, how much of the time spent on the
project will be used for filming, and how much will be used for editing. I learned to calculate roughly how much time will be
needed to do these things, and arranged and managed my time accordingly.
During the making of my preliminary task, I worked in a group with two other students. Throughout the course of working in
the group, problems arose, such as members of the group not being available to contribute to the making on the project
which caused minor problems. we resolved these issues through negotiations amongst the group.
Also, I have learned how to produce a storyboard for a project, which allowed us to decide in what order we would shoot each
scene to prevent having to move place to place each time we needed another shot.
I have also learned about the several issues around continuity and learned to reduce the amount of continuity editing needed
within production and how to control continuity in pre-production.
3. Areas of success
Throughout the course of creating my preliminary task, I successfully
shot multiple scenes and used a variety of shots to create my
preliminary task, followed the 180 degree rule, and also managed
continuity to the best of my ability.
Also, throughout the making of the preliminary task, the other members
of the group and I produced storyboards and scripts for the task as
planning for the project.
We also discussed time management and organized ourselves according
to what worked best for us as a group.
We managed to hand in our project to meet the deadline.
We also spent a lot of time using editing software such as Adobe
Premiere Pro to adjust our project and refine it to an acceptable
standard.
4. Areas for development
Throughout creating my preliminary task, I have learned several things
that i should add to future projects and picked up on things in this
project which did not go well and which areas need improvement.
During the editing of the project, continuity within the project were
noticed which were not adjusted. next time we will take caution when
filming to recognize these errors and correct them if needed.
The group and I, also need to increase our time management and
organization to better suit each person's needs.
The deadline was matched, but a lot of stress was involved, next time
we will ensure our time is managed correctly so as not to cause stress.
5. Meeting the brief
Our group met the brief to a good standard.
We followed, in our project, 180 Degree Rule in a scene where two actors were
exchanging dialogue.
We included a Match On Action in our project, where an actor was walking
down a corridor and then entering a room.
We included the Shot/Reverse Shot in our project, which was included in a
scene in which two actors were exchanging dialogue and were facing one
another.

7. Evaluation of my contribution to the group's work
Throughout the production of the preliminary task, I contributed to the majority of the filming
involved in the making of the project and also the majority of the editing.
By doing this I have learned how to set up a camera onto a tripod and how to set up a camera
to shoot specific shots and how to pan using a tripod.
I have also learned how to use editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro CC in order to edit
and adjust film and audio within the project.
During the production of the project I was flexible with my time, but could have been more
flexible to adjust to other peoples needs and timing.
I have gained several editing skills throughout production and have gained skills involved in
filming using a video recorder.
I think that I worked well in the group and contributed to a large portion of the production of
the project. Each member of the group were allocated their own roles and each followed them
well.
