Programme and Logistics •FCO Travel Advice: We advise against all but essential travel to Zuwara, Az Zawiya, Tripoli, al Khums, Zlitan and Misrata, and the coastal towns from Ras Lanuf to the Egyptian Border, with the exception of Benghazi; we advise against all travel to all other areas of Libya, including Benghazi. •Three days based in Tripoli •Security and in-country travel costs to be covered by UKTI funding

Healthcare Training Mission Open to organisations who develop and deliver training programmes especially those in the area of: • Trauma and rehabilitation nursing • General & specialist nursing • Allied health professions • Clinical professions • Paramedic training • Mental health • Training of nurse or health care professional trainers • Leadership & management of hospitals

Programme will include • Visits and meetings with Ministry of Health, key healthcare stakeholders at local hospitals/medical centres and universities • conference programme focussed on key stakeholders across government, nursing and allied healthcare sectors (up to 150 people) with the opportunity to deliver workshops and taster sessions • Networking reception Cost £750 including 3 nights accommodation, full security cover and all mission activities

Corporate Training and SME Development Feb 10-13th 2013 Open to organisations which develop and deliver training programmes especially those in the area of: • Business Development • Soft skills • Employability skills • Entrepreneurship • Coaching and Mentoring • Corporate and Executive Training • Educational Partnerships • E-learning Solutions • Leadership and Management Training

- With the Libyans keen to pursue links with overseas universities, there are a number of opportunities for the UK to engage in this region. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has plans for an ambitious campus building programme; links with overseas universities to raise the quality of Libyan institutions (including joint degrees); and research collaborations that could tap into ‘unlimited funding’ (THE, 14 June 2012). The Libyan government plans to offer 20,000 postgraduate scholarships for 2012-2013 and in the past approximately 50% of Libyan scholarship holders have gone to the UK. The British Council has calculated that 10,000 Libyan students, accompanied by their families, would be worth at least £500 million to the UK economy.-----42 institutions completed the Libya survey and 30 list capacity-building in post-conflict countries as an area of interest. Institutional partnershipsUniversity of Nottingham were engaged in pre-conflict Libya (and visited in March 2010), they have institutional partnerships with Al-Sabah University and the University of Tripoli and are keen to re-engageOil and Gas-related cooperationUniversity of Derby has an agreement with the Petroleum Technical Institute in Tripoli to deliver University of Derby-validated courses. This is currently on hold. The University of Musarata has recently approached them. They are keen to re-engage and are in close contact with various MinistriesUniversity of Teesside is hoping to rebuild links with government and oil companies who have sent a number of Libyan students for training in the past. They have also provided some distance learning material to the Petroleum Technical Institute in Tripoli. They have also discussed the possibility of articulations/collaborations with Garyounis University.
- Toidentify opportunities for establishing sustainable relationships between UK and Libyan Universities, particularly joint research, joint degrees and leadership To better understand the training and development needs of the HE sector in Libya through round tables and meetings with Libyan universities and stakeholders. To promote UK HE in the context of the large scale postgraduate scholarship programme launched by the Libyan Ministry of HE. To deliver 4-8 workshops on key topics of interest to Libyan universitiesThis will be a scoping visit and the priorities are flexible – the main objective is to provide a framework for UK and Libyan universities to re-establish links leading to sustainable long-term relationships and to provide capacity-building assistance to Libyan universities as they adapt and reformSecurity situation allowing, the plan is for a Ministerial visit to take place in early summer 2013 – with the hope that the Minister will be able to build on priorities identified during this first visit. The IU and Training Gateway have also received UKTI funding for organising an inward capacity building mission
