2. I. PROBLEM: “Adam & Eve in the Garden” turns
into “Moses & the Rebels in the DESERT!”
3. And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
“How long shall this wicked congregation grumble
against me? I have heard the grumblings of the
people of Israel, which they grumble against me.
Say to them, ‘As I live, declares the LORD, what you
have said in my hearing I will do to you: your dead
bodies shall fall in this wilderness, and of all your
number, listed in the census from twenty years old
and upward, who have grumbled against me, not
one shall come into the land where I swore that I
would make you dwell, except Caleb the son of
Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.
4. But your little ones, who you said would become a
prey, I will bring in, and they shall know the land
that you have rejected. But as for you, your dead
bodies shall fall in this wilderness. And your
children shall be shepherds in the wilderness forty
years and shall suffer for your faithlessness, until
the last of your dead bodies lies in the wilderness.
According to the number of the days in which you
spied out the land, forty days, a year for each day,
you shall bear your iniquity forty years, and you
shall know my displeasure.’
5. I, the LORD, have spoken. Surely this will I do to
all this wicked congregation who are gathered
together against me: in this wilderness they
shall come to a full end, and there they shall
die.”
Numbers 14:26-35 (ESV)
6. I. PROBLEM: “Adam & Eve in the Garden” turns
into “Moses & the Rebels in the DESERT!”
II. GOD FIXES THINGS BY DOING AN “INSIDE
JOB” IN US
7. “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I
will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and
the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made
with their fathers on the day when I took them by the
hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant
that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the
Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the
house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will
put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts.
And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jeremiah 31:31-33 (ESV)
8. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit
I will put within you. And I will remove the heart
of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of
flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and
cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful
to obey my rules.
Ezekiel 36:26-27 (ESV)
9. I. PROBLEM: “Adam & Eve in the Garden” turns
into “Moses & the Rebels in the DESERT!”
II. God fixes things with an “INSIDE JOB” IN us!
III. We respond OUTWARDLY.
10. because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord
and believe in your heart that God raised him from the
dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes
and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is
saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in
him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction
between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all,
bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone
who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:9-13 (ESV)
11. Now when they heard this they were cut to the
heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the
apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And
Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized
every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for
the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:37-38 (ESV)
