This document provides an overview of 5 lessons on analyzing music videos. It introduces Andrew Goodwin's framework of 7 common characteristics of music videos: 1) relationship between lyrics and visuals, 2) relationship between music and visuals, 3) existence of music video genres, 4) focus on the main artist, 5) use of star iconography, 6) elements of voyeurism, and 7) intertextual references. Later lessons have students practice applying this framework to analyze specific music videos like "It's Raining Men" by Geri Halliwell and videos by Jennifer Lopez and George Michael. The goals are to understand Goodwin's analysis technique and how it can be used to understand music videos.
