PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Mr. Ramsey has been in business for over 33 years and he and his company Architectural and Environmental
Associates, Inc. (AEA) have over one hundred years of experience in the field of green, sustainable, high
performance Architectural Design and related energy and environmental areas. AEA’s Green Architecture
Design includes designing numerous buildings in accordance with U. S. Green Building Council (USGBC)
LEED standards and participating in the USGBC LEED for Homes Pilot Demonstration Program. AEA has
constructed a LEED - Platinum Pilot Home that includes a photovoltaic (PV) solar system, passive solar
collection system, a wind turbine, gray water usage, rainwater harvesting system, low water use plumbing
fixtures, house ventilation tower system, Thermal hot water radiant flooring heating, permatculture
landscaping and sun room, E-Crete walls, SIPS panel roof, earth plaster finish on walls, paper stone counter
tops, stained concrete floors, recycled glass shower panel/tiles, certified wood framing, and numerous other
stainable, green, high performance building features.
3. Mr. Ramsey has been involved in all phases of architectural building design, applying the principles of Solar
and energy based construction as well as environmentally sound design for healthy, energy efficient building
construction in conjunction with good aesthetical design.
Mr. Ramsey's architectural & environmental experience includes numerous building types:

Solar PV Design and Installation : Mr. Ramsey has been instrumental in directing his company in the
design and installation of hundreds of Photovoltaic (PV) solar systems. Solar system have been designed and
installed on projects varying from small residential to large commercial projects and very notable projects
such as the Visitor’s Center at the Grand Canyon National Park.
Mr. Ramsey has incorporated his solar design expertise in the design and construction of many of his
buildings, including passive and active PV solar design. These designed and constructed projects helped him
earn the honor of being named the 2008 Green Builder of Year Award by “Green Builder Magazine”.
Mr. Ramsey’s solar and energy related work have been published in numerous publications including
“Home Power Magazine”, “Home Energy Magazine” Southwest Contractor Magazine” as well as being
featured on International Television on the TV show entitled “Green Plant” by the Science Channel.
Indoor Air Quality & Environmental Assessments: Mr. Ramsey has combined his background and
education regarding environmental concerns and architecture in the professional services he provides such as:
investigation of mold contamination in homes and other buildings, investigating “sick” buildings, working
with historic or older buildings and homes to solve their environmental problems, especially as associated
with renovation or remodeling projects; and designing environmentally friendly and healthy buildings and
homes.
Mr. Ramsey is an innovator in the identification and mitigation of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
environmental contaminants. He has practiced in the IAQ field for over thirty years and has conducted
hundreds of Indoor Air Quality Investigations and corrective actions.
Mr. Ramsey has conducted numerous asbestos, mold, lead-based paint, radon, PCB, mercury,
petroleum related contaminates, bacteria, and indoor air quality surveys and investigations. He has
conducted inspections, environmental assessments, cost estimates, risk assessments, abatement designs, and
air monitoring projects. Mr. Ramsey has been involved in all phases of environmental impact studies, from
investigations to surveys, to extensive reports of findings, implementations, and determination or qualification
of the remediation impact.
General:
Mr. Ramsey has provided consulting services for a variety of private companies and government
agencies. Government-related work has included work for cities, school districts, state governments, and a
number of federal agencies. He is familiar with the design manuals, specifications, and/or requirements of
federal agencies such as the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of Defense,
4. Department of Energy, General Services Administration, Veterans Administration, U.S. Justice Department,
and others.
Mr. Ramsey experience includes involvement in several professional and national committees
including: United States Green Building Council, Indoor Air Quality Council, American Industrial Hygiene
Association and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).
Mr. Ramsey was Chair and then Task Co-Chairman of the American Society for Testing and Materials
(ASTM) Committee for developing a practice to provide protection for workers who are involved in lead
abatement and/or are working on buildings containing lead based paints. He has authored a comprehensive
state of the art “Worker Safety Guide for Working With and/or Abating Lead-Based Paint”. In addition, Mr.
Ramsey was chairman of the “Health Issues Task Group for Lead Abatement Committee” of the National
Steel Structures Painting Council. He is also actively involved in the United States Green Building Council
(USGBC) and was the founder of the Northern Branch of Arizona Chapter of USGBC. Also Mr. Ramsey is
the Northern State Representative (Grand Canyon Chapter) of the Arizona State Chapter of the American
Institute of Architects.
Mr. Ramsey is very interested in helping and sharing his expertise in Building Design and Construction
and Environmental Concerns and Issues. He is active in providing expert witness, forensic investigations,
environmental sampling and inspections and providing his professional opinion to attorneys, insurance
adjusters, arbitrators, and others persons concerned with the professions he has been active in for over 40
years.
