Differences between Organic / Inorganic
• Organic
Is a balanced meal for your plants, containing not only
the macro elements, but all the micro nutrients and
trace elements as well.
• Inorganic
What you see is what you get – if it says 2.3.2 (22) you
only receive 22% actual fertiliser and only the Macro
elements as stated on the bag, the rest is filler.

Year Round Fertilising
Like humans, plants need regular feeding all year round, the more
regular the feeding the better.
Happy, healthy plants are more resistant to pests and disease.

Garden Club Presentation Final May 2011

Notas del editor

  1. Neutrog Australia 1st formed in 1988 Family owned business Located at Kanmantoo in the Adelaide Hills The name Neutrog was derived from a combination of “nutrients” and “organics
  2. Formed in SA in 2001 Factory site 30 hectares Located in picturesque town of Philadelphia in the Western Cape Family owned business Today Neutrog employs 40 + people
  3.   These cultures and values are what shapes & defines the Neutrog brand & are the values upon which we base all of our business dealings. Grounded – in our persona and in the manner in which we conduct and develop our business Focused -  in finding and developing like minded staff, suppliers and customers Disciplined -  in our pursuit of maximizing control over our business through developing and maintaining process – producing predictable outcomes Spirited – in our approach to supporting the community and in our enthusiasm towards  everything we do
  4. In our spirit toward the community— this is the reason why we are doing this talk and continue to support garden related community groups around South Africa and oversees.
  5. we want to provide you with the confidence to use & recommend our products and to ask you to support Neutrog in achieving its vision by “connecting” with us.
  6. Head Office - Neutrog Australia ‘manufacturing under license operations established in SA and NI SA – As mentioned started in 2001 just outside CT Neutrog Ireland – which was established in 2009, not far from Dublin—this factory has provided us with the opportunity to manufacture and supply product throughout the EU—this can only be done from within the EU has strict regulations preclude us from exporting to this area from outside the EU There are plans to establish manufacturing operations all around the world.
  7. As you can see, from these 3 factories we export to many countries around the world The quantities exported range from a 60 tonnes per year to Singapore to 1—2000 tonnes per year into Vietnam/Taiwan/Korea From South Africa we send to Angola, Mozambique, Mauritius, Namibia, Kenya, Botswana, and others
  8. Neutrog’s largest market is actually its commercial market—our products are used to grow everything from vegetables such as potatoes & onions, to wine grapes and cereal crops as well as being used in many of the well known Parks & Gardens
  9. This by line reflects Neutrog’s commercial origins and the use of our products by professionals who rely upon the performance of our products to earn their living.
  10. South African endorsements at the top and Australia at the bottom These endorsements are designed to provide you (those attending the presentation) with the confidence to use/try the particular Neutrog product. In each instance of product endorsement the members if the clubs & societies endorsing the product trialled the product over a number of years. In respect of our first endorsement with SIFR and the SA Rose Society SIFR was trialled over a 3 year period and involved in excess of 30 tonnes of product—that is enough product to feed 3 million roses!!
  11. Neutrog supports garden clubs around South Africa. The members of garden clubs (you) play a very significant role in Neutrog’s business—many years ago (in the mid 90’s) when Neutrog Australia launched its retail home garden range they approached a very well known national gardening celebrity to seek their ‘support’ for launching our national range of home garden products. The identity wanted $100,000 just to talk to us—we simply couldn’t afford it and after carrying out some market research we decided to embark upon a community based marketing model whereby Neutrog would endeavour to support gardening related community groups around Australia (including garden clubs, botanic gardens etc) and be reliant upon their word of mouth support of Neutrog—hence we appreciate any support you can give us to family, friends & other home gardeners you know.
  12. The Pooh Bah Foundation was established a couple of years ago to formalise the support we were providing to garden related communities Currently in excess of half a million rand per year in product & financial support is provided to various communities across SA The Pooh Bah Foundation provides product to many community gardens/feeding schemes where being able to grow & provide food for your family is very significant. We also support the maintenance of public gardens, as well as reforestation and greening projects
  13. Membership is free – sign up today or online Receive email newsletter Receive special offers and exclusive competitions
  14. Paper Form and online form
  15. Join the Neutrog SA facebook page – exclusive giveaways, gardening tips and info, plus ask us questions here!
  16. Raw materials of each product undergo a unique composting process over a 6-8 week period depending upon the season These materials are also steam treated at pasteurizing temps (60 degrees C, similar to composting temps) prior to pelletizing These processes maximize nutrient availability and ensure that products are free of any parasites, pathogens and weed seeds, whilst retaining the microbiology necessary to provide a living fertilizer
  17. Organic fertilizers do not leach or burn and can be applied all year round which suits the plants feeding requirements. Unlike chemical fertilisers which effectively force feed the plant and are not readily retained in the soil—organic fertilisers work in a differing manner insofar as they are effectively applied to the soil and the plants will take up the nutrients as required This allows for a constant supply of plant nutrition throughout the year & removes the feast or famine situation that can occur when only chemically fertilising once or twice a year—the later adds stress to the plant and this in itself provides an opening for pest and disease.
  18. Certification ensures Neutrog’s methods, processes and products comply with the strict Ecocert Standards & Guidelines Ultimately this allows for trace back of all raw materials to their origin This includes testing for heavy metals, chemical residues, hormones, pesticides & fungicides along with testing for genetically modified residues Whilst these standards are only specifically apply to the Ecocert certified products Neutrog utilises the same protocols across all its products
  19. When Neutrog first entered the home garden market it took us a while to understand why home gardeners only seemed to fertilise in autumn and spring yet our commercial, professional customers fertilised right throughout the year. Traditionally home gardeners have not fertilised in winter & summer simply because chemical fertilisers would leach in winter and burn in summer and hence there was no benefit of fertilising in this manner at these times
  20. Winter is an ideal time to apply an organic fertilizer Plants store up energy in winter awaiting the warmer weather It will encourage root growth—the greater the root growth the larger the soil surface area in which to draw nutrients
  21. Summer is also an ideal time to apply an organic fertilizer It encourages root growth—the greater the root growth the greater the soil surface area upon which to draw nutrients & moisture—increasing the plants resistance to moisture stress Plants are no different to humans—when we are stressed in any manner we are far more susceptible to sickness & disease—lack of water, food or simply stress itself will lead to cracked nails, broken hair etc
  22. In essence organic fertilisers work in three ways—firstly they directly add nutrition to the soil, secondly they stimulate the micro-biology within the soil which will break down organic matter to generate further nutrition 7 thirdly they stimulate root growth which provides a great soil surface area upon which to draw nutrients (& moisture/water) A great example that I always use to demonstrate how an organic fertiliser works is in respect of growing natives—most people know and understand that phosphate will kill natives yet the same people have applied Blood and Bone to natives—Blood and Bone is essentially a phosphate based fertiliser—it contains 5% phosphorous yet it has no negative effect on natives because they don’t take up this phosphorous—the same level of chemical/water soluble phosphorous would kill a native because it is supplied in a form that essentially force feeds the phosphorous to the plant. Hence given the ‘nature’ of how organic fertilisers work they can basically be used in any application at any time and are hence all effectively multi-purpose products.
  23. Bounce Back – base chicken manure product used on all garden plants Rapid Raiser – with added soft rock phosphate which aids root development and is excellent when planting
  24. In essence Blade Runner is the same product as Bounce Back it is just supplied in a finer crumble form so as to make it suitable for application on lawns. Upsurge is organic based and boosted with water soluble compounds. The organic compounds provide a slow release feed over a number of weeks and the inorganic water soluble compounds supply the nutrients faster giving your lawn the head start it needs and promotes green colour.
  25. In keeping with our philosophy that plants like humans need to be regularly fed throughout the entire year, we have developed a number of year round fertilising programs to suit every situation—these can be found on the back of Neutrog’s product catalogue These programs cover both our multi-purpose & specialist products—you can chose to follow either program or a combination of both—provided only one application is used in each season. If you are not already feeding your plants constantly throughout the year, once in each season, I would encourage you to do so—the results will amaze you.
  26.  Neutrog is one of the few companies that manufactures and supplies both the professional commercial market and retail home garden market With product development and trialing it takes at least 3 – 5 years to get each new product to market In taking this approach we can guarantee our products will perform.
