2. Phase 4: Final Product!! Leveled Reading Library (K-2 Grade)
Above I have presented a condense version of my service learning project process into four
phases. Below I have explained what each phrase represents.
Phase 1 represents the way the King School Series leveled reading library was stored away in
Hope Academy’s extended day program closet with no way of being utilized for the K-2 grade
after school tutoring program.
Phase 2 represents how I had to separate out each basket by reading level and arrange them in
the correct order to make it easier to place the corresponding worksheets for each book into the
matching basket. The second image in this phase represents the reading worksheets from the
King School Series teacher guide book. I had to make copies for each of the 5 book sets (5 books
to a set) for each level and organize them out so I could place them into individual group zip lock
bags.
Phase 3 represents the process I went through matching each level book set to the matching
worksheets and then placing them into zip lock bags to be placed back into the corresponding
basket. Each zip lock bag per level basket included two to three books with a set of worksheets
for each book. Each zip lock bag represents a group of students that will read that particular book
in that level at a time.
Phase 4 represents the final level reading library that is currently displayed in the Hope
Academy snack room.
