PowerPoint presenPowerPoint presentationtation
Remember to keep it simple
• While creating
a PowerPoint
isn’t always
easy…
• Reading it
should be.
To much text can look
overwhelming and/or boring…
• The concept of data communication - transmitting data between two different places,
connected via some kind of electromagnetic medium, such as radio or an electrical wire -
actually predates the introduction of the first computers. Such communication systems were
typically limited to point to point communication between two end devices. Telegraph
systems and telex machines can be considered early precursors of this kind of
communication. The earlier computers used the technology available at the time to allow
communication between the central processing unit and remote terminals. As the
technology evolved new systems were devised to allow communication over longer
distances (for terminals) or with higher speed (for interconnection of local devices) that
were necessary for the mainframe computer model. Using these technologies it was
possible to exchange data (such as files) between remote computers. However, the point to
point communication model was limited, as it did not allow for direct communication
between any two arbitrary systems; a physical link was necessary. The technology was also
deemed as inherently unsafe for strategic and military use, because there were no
alternative paths for the communication in case of an enemy attack.

Bullet points work wonders in
PowerPoint.
• Rule1: Lifeisnot fair -- get used to it!
• Rule2: Theworld won't careabout your
self-esteem. Theworld will expect you to
accomplish something BEFORE you feel
good about yourself.
• Rule3: You will NOT make$60,000 a
year right out of high school. You won't
beavice-president with acar phoneuntil
you earn both.
• Rule4: If you think your teacher istough,
wait till you get aboss.
• Rule5: Flipping burgersisnot beneath
your dignity. Your Grandparentshad a
different word for burger flipping -- they
called it opportunity.
• Rule6: If you messup, it'snot your
parents' fault, so don't whineabout your
mistakes, learn from them.
• Rule7: Beforeyou wereborn, your parentsweren't as
boring asthey arenow. They got that way from
paying your bills, cleaning your clothesand listening
to you talk about how cool you thought you are. So
beforeyou savetherain forest from theparasitesof
your parent'sgeneration, try delousing thecloset in
your own room.
• Rule8: Your school may havedoneaway with
winnersand losers, but lifeHASNOT. In some
schoolsthey haveabolished failing gradesand they'll
giveyou asMANY TIMESasyou want to get the
right answer. Thisdoesn't bear theslightest
resemblanceto ANYTHING in real life.
• Rule9: Lifeisnot divided into semesters. You don't
get summersoff and very few employersare
interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that
on your own time.
• Rule10: Television isNOT real life. In real life
peopleactually haveto leavethecoffeeshop and go
to jobs.
• Rule11: Beniceto nerds. Chancesareyou'll end up
working for one.
Remember color combos that
look good together.
• Think of colors that
traditionally go together
• Sports teams often
have good “color
coordination.”
