Description
Focuses on specific and changing topics relevant to the facade industry and
architectural practice. Consists of lectures from TU Delft and experts from
practice, several excursions and a symposium and additional workshops.
Understanding of the strong influence that architecture and structural design
have on each other. Lectures and practical research: existing, historic building
which needs to be analyzed both architecturally and structurally. Following the
analysis a design for a new program and function for this existing building are
elaborated.
A review is given to the principles of project agreements, the various types of
reimbursement, the selection and choice of contract partners and the various
components of contracts.
Design of an accommodation block in an off shore platform. Integrated
design in extreme situations, in respect to climate, location and function.
Essence is the interaction between the extreme circumstances, the
technical solutions, and the architecture. ‘Engineer questions and
answers’, towards the articulation of the form which is based on a
combination of aesthetic and technology.
Design of transparent structures e.g. in atria or building entrances using
specific skills and material knowledge. Provide technical solutions
for transparent facades, canopies and roofs, and decide for a specific
design situation which solution is the most suitable, in terms of building
technology, building physics and detailing. Design exercise: Glass atrium
with steel structure.
Durability aspects and the maintenance and repair of materials in
constructions. Maintenance technology, strategies and management
quality systems and certification. Corrosion practical -laboratory.
Climate design, theory of heat, air and moisture transfer in buildings,
building acoustics, building component analysis assignment (heat
transferthroughanundergroundpipe,Matlab©modelingandanalyzing).

Activities During my work:
01/11/2013 - 31/07/2014
Civil Engineering Office, Emmanouil Karras, Volos, Greece
Design of the parking station for Halliburton© in Poland, Teresin (Parking lot
design and the proposal of a technically sound solution for the polluted stormwater
management in the parking area, in accordance with the current European
Environmental Regulations).
Contribution in the design and of the Hulliburton's oil and gas operator facilities in
Cyprus, Larnaca.
Consultion in topographical, hydraulic – hydrological, environmental, mechanical
and geotechnical issues. Among my basic responsibilities was to design using
AutoCAD and to edit technical reports.
Letter of recommendation available upon request.
Fire safety design of buildings. Emphasis on structural fire safety and
regulations (national & European). Basic principles of fire safety design
of buildings, consequences of fire, various options for fire safety design.
Presents the latest developments in sustainable building design, with
the focus on climate design, facade design and structural design, through
a series of lectures by researchers from the Architectural Engineering
& Technology department. Writing a paper on a related subject: Green
