1. Something for Everyone at Cisco’s Packet Optical
Networking Conference in San Jose, May 13-15

Customers drive everything we do – the products we develop, what features they
employ, which services we offer. That’s why our biannual Packet Optical Networking
Conference (PONC) is so important to us. It’s an opportunity to spend three interactive
days together, sharing our vision and latest technology, and more importantly listening
to what our customers have to say. Our goal is a highly interactive event, and that
PONC attendees learn as much from each other as they do from Cisco.
The event kicks off with a welcome message and visionary keynote from the leaders of
Cisco’s High End Routing and Optical group, but we quickly hand over the keys to our
customers - industry heavyweights who will speak from a wide range of perspectives -
ISP, OTT, ILEC.

2. Day two has something for everyone. If your focus is optical transport, you can fill your
agenda with sessions on OTN network design, SONET/SDH migration, advances in
ROADM technology, pluggable transceiver innovations, and even last-mile optical
access. Prefer a more packet-centric approach? Then make sure you attend sessions
on 100G routing evolution and service provider network virtualization. Would you like to
better understand Cisco’s vision of an Evolved Programmable Network? There are
sessions devoted to multi-layer SDN, multi-layer restoration, and multi-layer network
convergence (are you seeing a trend?). This year we will also be featuring sessions
tailored to enterprise users – such as encryption and data center interconnect - as well
as attendees looking for practical, operational exposure to optical products and
solutions from Cisco.
Lastly, for attendees wishing to see Cisco’s latest innovations in-person, day three will
move to the Cisco San Jose campus for live demonstrations of Cisco’s packet-optical
innovations, where we’ll be demonstrating multi-layer programmability across IP, OTN,
and DWDM, Superchannel transport, and IP+Optical network design, optimization, and
provisioning.
