1. Beano
The story is out of the comic book called beano no. 3596 from 30-jul-11, on the front page is a large
image Dennis and Gnasher outside a castle causing trouble this shows a hint to what the story could
be about inside. The first story inside the comic book is Dennis and Gnasher.This covered over three
pages, it has twenty-one blocks. The comic is full of colour to attract their target audience which will
be young children. The comic book makes it easier for young children to read and enjoy more, the
comic book breaks the story down into small simple steps for children to understand. Each block has
an image of the characters or location showing the reader what is happening without reading lots of
pages to understand. There are also speech bubbles to show which character is talking.
I think that the comic book is very effective for what the purpose is. The colours are bright, also the
drawings are bold and simple to understand what is happening in the story. I think that the writing
that is used to for sounds for an example when Dennis jumps on the fat man it says ‘Boing!’ this sets
children’s imagination off with the type of sounds they would hear. If I was a child still I would read
comic books more than books because it is less reading and more entertaining.
