  1. The difference between traditional media and social media is that social media provides a feedback opportunity for the receiver.

  4. You don’t say, “oh my gosh I’ve got so many that I could watch I have no idea what to watch first or where to start!” You know what serves you best, you know what you enjoy, you know how to use individual channels and not think of them all as one big giant glob of media outlets.

  6. Like Google alerts but it’s dedicated specifically to social media. Google misses things like message boards and comment sections. Social Mention will get these comments on the message boards. You can customize to say “I’m only interested in blogs, not twitter.” Searches video, photos, etc. If people tag a photo with your search term, it’ll tell you. It functions so much like google, it’ll be very familiar.
  7. Graphically oriented. No report functioning. It allows you to visually SEE the conversation…searches things that social mention and google doesn’t. It’ll search wordpress’s search function so if blogs that get so little traction are talking about you. It does a really good search of bing, thus you can compare google’s results and bing’s results side by side. If something’s on vimeo or flickr, it’ll show you a thumbnail of that listing so you can quickly eliminate false leads. Can’t get a report, but you can bookmark it so when you go back it automatically update your results.
