Nook Simple Touch Ereaders - 20 Simple Touch, and 1 Nook Color (1st generation)...as you can see, they are almost all checked out.
10 are used exclusively for literature circles, and it’s great to “try out” a new lit circle book before buying print copies.
12 are circulated to 4th and 5th grade students. In 3 school years, I’ve only had 2 have issues, and BN replaced them both (I did purchase the extended warranty.) No issues this school year. I also purchase many of the PA YRC books and load them on the circulating Nooks to increase access.
I’m VERY picky about eBooks. I *refuse* to pay for ebooks that lock me into a certain vendor or file format. I want ebooks that do NOT require a “check out” by the students, and they must be unlimited, simultaneous access.
We have 12 Nexus tablets used in the library (not checked out by students). They are used by students for catalog access, reading ebooks, research, book review writing, taking quizzes/surveys via QR code, and NUMEROUS other instructional uses! Fast, instant access
