2012 IN REVIEW
We’ve always known that the Columbus Region is special. Now the rest of the world is starting to understand why.
2012 was a good year for our region and thousands of citizens who had the opportunity to return to work, start
a business or expand their existing operation.
Success touched each of our key economic sectors and the result is a continued march upward toward our
10-year goals. Whether a new company joins our ranks or an existing company grows, opportunities are generated
for individuals and families. Last year, more than 100 companies made the positive decision to add jobs, invest in
our region and grow within one of our communities.
We’re keeping score and so is the nation. The Columbus Region is one of the top 10 metros in the country for the
first time in many years due to our growth. Recognition like that belongs to the job creators first, and secondly to
the private and public investors of Columbus 2020. Without them, we would be passively awaiting what’s next,
instead of boldly claiming our preferred future.
Our commitment is to continue serving growing businesses while adjusting our tactics to fit each year’s challenges
and opportunities. The vitality of our region depends on it, and we are honored to rise to the challenge.
Sincerely,
Kenny McDonald
Chief Economic Officer
