- Adobe Flash is a widely used tool for delivering high-impact and rich e-learning content. Courses can be highly customized with designs, animations and user interfaces.
- Before looking into the tips for publishing videos that play smoothly and seamlessly, let’s first look at the three modes of delivering videos using Adobe Flash.
- Videos embedded in Flash are delivered as Shockwave Flash (.swf) files, which play directly on Flash Player.
- The second output method is External video, that is, the output is in the dot flv file format. This file when linked with the built-in-components has features like play, pause, stop and other video operations.
- Flash Media Server (FMS), a streaming server, is another method in which videos can be delivered using Flash. This format is useful in delivering both live and on-demand videos with buffering support, interactive options, and built-in security features.
- Based on our understanding of the three ways to deliver videos using Adobe Flash, here are a few tips, from which you can benefit in publishing the videos online smoothly and seamlessly.
- To deliver videos for standard resolution which is 1024 x 768, the recommended dimension is a width of 640 pixels and height of 360 pixels.
- The video should be converted into the dot flv format before integrating with the flash streaming component.
- The ideal size for the single video should be below 20 MB. If a video is longer, we can split it into smaller parts and load them individually. As a result videos play without any interruptions even at lower bandwidth areas.
- The video file should be compressed at a high rate via video and audio codecs.
