Otolaryngology is a medical specialty that focuses on the ear, nose,
throat (ENT), head, and neck. Doctors specializing in this field are
trained to diagnose and treat diseases that affect various upper-body
structures including the larynx (voice box), sinuses, and mouth.
In the field of otolaryngology, a physician can further narrow his or
her focus to one of seven areas of expertise: allergy, facial and
reconstructive surgery, head and neck, laryngology (throat), otology
(ear), pediatric otolaryngology, and rhinology (nose and sinus).
