PROJECT OVERVIEW/DESCRIPTION
The new E. L. Wiegand Fitness Center will complete
the new north hub of the university of Nevada,
Reno. This important piece of property, at the
entrance of the new gateway to campus, is the
perfect location for the Center. Joining several
other brand-new facilities, the new Student
Fitness Center will complete the build‐out of the
student‐centered mid‐campus development and
represents a near doubling of the space dedicated
to student fitness and recreation.
The new facility will feature 108,500 square feet
of multiuse space, which will do much to alleviate
the overcrowding the current student recreation
center. Currently, 350 people are turned away
weekly from fitness classes in which they wish to
participate. Radiating energy and excitement, the
new Student Fitness Center is designed to move
the University substantially towards the needs of
the 2025 student population goal of 22,000.

PROJECT OVERVIEW/DESCRIPTION
The Roger B. Primm Sports Medicine and Strength
Center was envisioned to provide student-
athletes with first class facilities for their training
and support. WORTHGROUP first provided a
conceptual design and program of spaces that
was used to assist in fundraising for the new
facility. The Sports Medicine and Strength Center
was completed in phases. The first phase included
an interior renovation of the ground floor building
providing locker rooms, coaches facilities and
media rooms.
The second phase included an expansion to
accommodate the new Primm Family Sports
Medicine and Strength Center. Here weight
training, rehabilitation, therapy pools and other
state-of-the-art athletic facilities are located. In
addition, meeting rooms, offices, storage and
other support spaces such as laundry facilities and
locker rooms are located.
The final phase expanded the physical therapy
facilities to serve Nevada Physical Therapy and
Reno Orthopedic Clinic; both tenants of the
University. These facilities work hand in hand with
strength and training coaches and trainers for
the University in helping injured athletes as well
as serving the public for rehabilitation purposes.
There was 3,000 square feet added in the final
phase.
