1. The Road To
The Throne
2Samuel5:1-5
1
All the tribes of Israel came to David at
Hebron and said, "We are your own flesh and
blood. 2
In the past, while Saul was king over us,
you were the one who led Israel on their military
campaigns. And the LORD said to you, 'You will shepherd my people
Israel, and you will become their ruler.' " 3
When all the elders of
Israel had come to King David at Hebron, the king made a compact
with them at Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David
king over Israel. 4
David was thirty years old when he became king,
and he reigned forty years. 5
In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven
years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned over all Israel
and Judah thirty-three years.
2. The Spirit Of Truth Descends
On The Meeting
Brothers and sisters I am a charlatan, a liar
and a deceitful untrustworthy man!
3. The Road To

6. The People Chose David
2Samuel5:1
All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and
said, "We are your own flesh and blood. In the past,
while Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel
on their military campaigns. And the LORD said to you, 'You will
shepherd my people Israel, and you will become their ruler.' "
7. David A Man After
God’s Heart
Acts13:22
After removing Saul, he made David their king.
He testified concerning him: 'I have found David son of
Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I
want him to do.'
10. How Should
We React?
1Thessalonians5:12-13
Now we ask you, brothers, to respect those who
work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and
who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love
because of their work. Live in peace with each other.
11. How Should
We React?
1Timothy5:17-19
The elders who direct the affairs of the church well
are worthy of double honour, especially those whose
work is preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, "Do
not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The
worker deserves his wages.” Do not entertain an accusation against an
elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.
Then it all goes quiet for a few years. Samuel gets David into the royal court and trains him in the ways of a king. Finally Saul dies and David becomes king. Well almost. You see David only became king of Judah the southern tribes but eventually all the people came to David and we read about how he becomes king of Judah and Israel in today’s passage.
The people chose David by saying publically we want you as a leader. Interesting isn’t it that the people should finally get around after seven years or so to Gods desire. And when they do they say publically Leader over us we want you as our leader.
