Do you remember this song? Just give me some light  and H20 ohh with CO2 then I’ll make glucose  and the oxygen  you breath in through your nose That’s how photosynthesis flows
Which organisms do this? Organisms known as autotrophs or producers make their own food.  They use chloroplasts to create food. Plants are autotrophs
How do autotrophs make their own food? Autotrophic organisms possess cells that contain chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is a green pigment located in the chloroplast and is responsible for giving green plants their color Chlorophyll absorbs light energy from the sun.
What happens next? Autotrophs take  carbon dioxide into their cells through diffusion and water into their cells through osmosis. Then a  series of reactions that take place that result in the formation of oxygen and glucose
What is glucose used for? When the energy absorbed from the sun is stored in the form of glucose.   The glucose is broken down in the mitochondria during cellular respiration then the energy is released in the form of ATP.
What do you notice about these two reactions? C6H12O6 + 6O2 -----> 6CO2 + 6H20 + ATP &                                                                                       heat 6CO2 + 6H20 +light energy -----> C6H12O6                                                       + 6O2 The products from photosynthesis are the reactants from cellular respiration and vice versa.
What do the numbers below represent? C6H12O6 + 6O2 -----> 6CO2 + 6H20 + ATP &     heat 6CO2 + 6H20 + light energy -----> C6H12O6 + 6O2 The subscripts let the reader know the amount of each element in a compound. In the compound that is water there are two hydrogen for every oxygen.   The large number in the front represents the number molecules of the compound present.  There are six water molecules present
