The Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ) is the largest journalist organization in the non-aligned world, founded in 1950 in New Delhi. It has over 30,000 members working in electronic media, news agencies, and journals across 17 languages in 35 Indian states and territories. The IFWJ owns property worth $4.5 million and engages in activities such as media research, trade union struggles, and environmental and anti-war campaigns. The Indian Newspaper Society (INS) was founded in 1939 and has over 730 newspaper organization members. It represents newspaper interests to the government on issues like wage boards. INS provides training to journalists and assists members with recovering ad dues.
