MYERS SAFETY, ENVIRONMENTAL AND MANUFACTURING 2001 to Present
MYERS SENIOR SERVICES 2001 to Present
Started two of my own companies. The first company is involved with safety, environmental and manufacturing
consulting, which includes safety and environmental auditing, training, inspections and report writing, hazardous
waste storage, treatment and disposal and air and wastewater discharge permits. The company also consults
manufacturers on streamlining production and enhancing quality procedures to increase efficiency. The second
company provides care and services to senior citizens.
CARRIER CORPORATION/ 2000 to 2001
UNITED TECHNOLOGIES
Environmental, Health, and Safety Engineer (EHS) /Chemist/Process Engineer/Purchasing/Maintenance & Custodial
Co-Supervisor/Quality Control/Production Supervisor/Customer Service
Completely revised local companies Quality program. Streamlined data collection for the Quality Control
Department where we were testing the air conditioning units which were made for large busses and trucks.
Maintained test equipment for the production lines. Performed root cause analysis on components of the air
conditioners that failed. Purchased components for the production lines and maintenance department. Worked
on Process Engineering problems on the production lines. Streamlined manufacturing processes by eliminating
or combining manufacturing steps in an assembly line type manufacturing mode. Co-Supervised the
Maintenance Department. Streamlined data collection for environmental reporting to federal, state, local and
corporate agencies. Did extensive environmental monitoring which included Air Quality, Solid Waste and Waste
Minimization work. Gained additional in depth experience reporting to and achieving full compliance with all
OSHA and DOT regulations. Certified forklift operators. Initiated installation of state of the art safety equipment,
such as light curtains and safety shut off mats on manufacturing equipment, which greatly reduced the risk of
injury. Solved ergonomic problems, which were causing musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) injuries and costing the
company thousands of dollars in terms of Lost Work Time and Workman’s Compensation. Assumed Production
Supervisor and Warehouse responsibilities as the plant was shutting down. SAP experience Supervised 250.
Plant Closed.
BECTON DICKINSON BIOSCIENCES 1998 to 1999
Process Engineer/Quality Assurance
Implemented improvements to a medical diagnostic kit acquired from another company. First problem was a
packaging problem which included hard peeling foil/paper cover, and “bearding” of the adhesive. Started from
scratch, analyzed product, experimented, redesigned several components of the kit to dramatically reduce
customer complaints. Modified test equipment to obtain quantitative data to help determine best course of action
toward problem correction. Found alternatives to currently used components, which increased efficiency and at
the same time cut costs considerably. Modified production equipment to increase productivity. Discovered devices,
which would make operation of the product much more user friendly. Worked on component validation. Familiar
with GMPs. Successfully passed intensive internal FDA audit.
CAMPBELL CHAIN/COOPER TOOLS 1993 to 1998
Environmental Engineer/Industrial Wastewater Treatment Operator
Prime responsibility regulatory compliance for parent company, Cooper Tools, environmental audit. Successfully
added Safety Specialist and Wastewater Treatment responsibilities. Repaired pumps, recorded data, and
performed all aspects of hands on wastewater treatment operator duties.
Initial assignment was preparation for massive total environmental compliance audit by parent company. Helped
achieve full compliance with all OSHA, EPA, DOT, State and Local environmental regulations. Recognized for
best environmental audit ever achieved by any Cooper company. Received Cooper’s PDQ (People Dedicated to
Quality) Award. Hands on Wastewater Treatment experience.
Initial responsibility was expanded to include additional Chemist, and Safety Specialist duties.
Completed Pennsylvania State sponsored classroom studies on wastewater treatment. Completed 40 hour OSHA
course. Gained increased computer literacy utilizing spread sheets. Awarded a rare, second PDQ Award. Heavily
involved with ISO 9001, GMP, and SPC.
ACCO BABCOCK-DIVISION FKI 1990 to 1993
Production Supervisor/Sr. Environmental Engineer/Chemist/Quality Control/Safety Specialist/Customer
Service/Purchasing/Production Supervisor/Wastewater Treatment Supervisor/Electroplating Engineer
Started as Chief Chemist and Environmental Engineer then promoted to additional responsibility as a Quality
Control Specialist, Purchasing Specialist, Workmen’s Compensation Specialist, Wastewater Treatment Supervisor
and Safety /Industrial Hygiene Specialist. Supervised wastewater treatment facility; ordered chemicals, managed
personnel and conducted inspection tours with York City inspectors. Heavily involved with ISO 9001, GMP, and
SPC, Root Cause Analysis, Process Mapping.
Achievements include cutting $146,000 from expense budget, insuring environmentally safe disposal of hazardous
materials and total regulatory compliance. Reduced overall accident rate 35% and serious injury rate by 28%.
Certified forklift operators. Implemented safety training for all employees. Achieved total compliance during full
regulatory agency audits, mitigated multimillion dollar landfill liability exposure, found alternatives that
eliminated use of hazardous materials, solved complex corrosion problem thus eliminating hundreds of thousands
of dollars in product return and rework, eliminated customer complaints. Installed automated chemical inventory
system. Designed and implemented spill contingency plan, designed site remediation procedures, decreased
environmental liability significantly. Supervised up to 350. Plant closed.
AMPHENOL/ALLIED SIGNAL 1984 to 1990
Environmental Engineer/Chemist/Production Supervisor/Quality Control/Safety Specialist/Purchasing/Wastewater
Treatment Supervisor/Maintenance Supervisor/Electroplating Engineer/Customer Service
Designed, equipped and established modern analytical chemistry laboratory. Closed two plants in Chicago and
constructed a new plant in York, Pennsylvania. Became responsible for environmental compliance, training
program establishment, and precious metal electroplating production. Worked in Quality Control to improve
product quality. Added Wastewater Treatment Supervisors, Workmen’s Compensation Specialist, Purchasing
Specialist, and Safety Specialist responsibilities. Managed wastewater treatment facility by ordering chemicals,
monitoring flow and checking metal content on AA and ICP units and conducted inspections with York City
inspectors. Quality Assurance responsibilities included Root Cause Analysis, SPC, and Process Mapping.
Implemented “Tool Box Talks” and weekly Safety Meetings, which covered a myriad of topics ranging from
electrical and mechanical issues to Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Certified forklift operators. Supervised
Chemists, Technicians, Quality Assurance and Production personnel, increased manufacturing efficiency
significantly through applied science. Pioneered Hazardous Material Compliance preformed complex chemical
analysis of materials to devise safe and legal disposal at minimal cost. Supervised 200. Plant closed.
AMP INCORPORATED 1979 to 1984
Production Supervisor/ Chemist/Quality Assurance/Safety Specialist/Purchasing/Maintenance Mechanic/Wastewater
Treatment Operator/Electroplating Engineer/Customer Service
Analyzed all environmental wastewater treatment effluent, electroplating facilities and product quality assurance
assays. Developed expertise in analyzing and recycling precious metals. Obtained hands on Quality Assurance,
Purchasing Specialist, Wastewater Treatment and Safety Specialist experience. As a wastewater treatment
operator I checked the effluent metal content on AA unit, repaired pumps, checked meters and recorded results. I
was responsible for meeting all environmental compliance regulations at the federal, state and local levels.
Received two (CIA) Cost Improvement Awards for saving nearly $400,000. Supervised 45. Left for promotion and
