Led an effort in emerging Latin Market Research led to an investment in Mexico small
capitalization stocks. The account grew in size from $1 million to $5 million from 1995
to 1998. Management decided to seed a fund by the name of Latin Value Ltd. In spite of
a sizeable drawdown in its first year and prevailing flight to safety, the fund earned above
average returns in four of seven operating years. In 2004, the fund’s clients chose to
liquidate despite the overall success of the fund and some favorable press.

Marketing and Sales Operations 1987-1990
Joined the firm as assistant to the Director of Marketing. Assisted the Director of
Marketing in the launch of the firm’s flagship fund, The Tocqueville Fund. Wrote rough
copy for communication to broker-dealers (Tucker Anthony and Sutro & Co) that
distributed the fund. Once registered as general securities representative (July 1987),
communicated with fund shareholders, designed fund profile for publication and RFPs.
Initiated marketing efforts with financial planners.
