Session 1: 4th AML Directive – how much do you know about your customers? How much will you
need to know to remain compliant with this new legislation?
The directive aims to help you put an end to fraudulent activities such as fake ID scams via free bet
allowance schemes and other money laundering tactics designed to inflict loss on your business. It will
require operators to gather far more information about their online customers, adding both complexity
and cost to the KYC process. You’ll undoubtedly have seen technology providers offering their
services in this area already, but what’s really required to conform to the new Directive, and the best
strategy for implementation?
In this session you’ll learn why the new legislation is necessary, direct from a senior specialist from the
EU. We’ll cover its specific objectives and how it will it affect your business whether you run a gambling
operation or process payments on behalf of others. The session will help you develop a cost-effective
strategy so you don’t spend more money staying compliant and preventing fraud than the issue
currently costs.

Session 2: Virtual currencies – will the new digital currencies destabilise the gambling industry or
present an opportunity?
Are virtual currencies an opportunity or a major disruptor for the gambling industry? In this session,
we will help you to understand the regulation of virtual currencies following a study by the European
Banking Authority, how it may evolve over time, and what we can learn from recent examples of
gambling operators using cryptocurrencies.

Session 3: UK Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act 2014 – will we see a flood of offshore
operations relocating back to the UK as a result of Point of Consumption Tax?
The Act is already upon us and the new regulations affect not only operations, but also advertising
activity, some of which is effectively outlawed. But the most impactful – and controversial – element
is the Point of Consumption Tax, aimed at those operators who have off-shored to havens such as
Gibraltar, IoM, Alderney and Malta. The 15% tax will have a significant impact on profitability and we
suspect that many operators are already reconsidering the benefits of offshore operations.
We’re at a watershed, whilst the industry assesses the Act’s impact. So to help assess its implications,
we’ll hear from a specialist from the FCA who will look beyond this deadline, and review the lessons
learned from the implementation process. This will be followed by an undoubtedly lively debate with
an expert panel comprising consultants, operators, tax experts, and offshore jurisdictions who will help
you understand what your next steps should be.

14.30 Session 4: 3rd E-Money Directive – do you have the necessary vetting processes in place or will you
fall foul of the law?
The new legislation will have a significant impact on anyone that touches gambled money at any point.
So not just operators and PSPs, but ancillary services such as telecoms, FX or software vendors. At
every stage in the process, organisations will have to ensure that not only are they compliant, but also
their suppliers. And their suppliers’ suppliers, and so on throughout the ecosystem as long as they
have any contact with the transaction.
The most immediate impact is that operators will be forced to look at their suppliers far more carefully.
And put a vetting process in place that ensures they stay compliant regardless of changes in the
supply chain far beyond their direct control.
It’s a complex area and the legislation is far-reaching. Many organisations don’t know whether they’re
affected by the regulations and may have a rude awakening when the Directive becomes law.
We’ll hear direct from an EU specialist and a panel of sector experts who will help you anticipate and
assess the impact on your business and develop a strategy that minimises the business risk and
maximises the opportunities for growth.
